When I had got to the college and checked in my mum helped me bring all my things inside.

She stood looking at me as took a seat in my new home

'What?' I asked

'My big girls all grown up now. Look at you, I'm so proud of you' she said with tears building in her eyes

'Mum, please don't do this' I said beginning to get rather upset myself at this point. As much as we had our differences, she was still my mum and I loved her more than anything. I was about to live away from her for the first time. I had focused so much on Ashton since I met him that I never took much time out for my mother.

'Come here' I said putting my arms out for a hug 'Love you mummy'

'I love you too my darling' she said squeezing me tight into her.

As I continued to speak to her I heard my voice crack and felt a lump appear in my throat. I wanted to cry and tell her how much I'd miss her but it'd only make this worse for us both. I decided to take a deep breath in and calm myself down.

She stayed for a while but soon enough it was time for her to leave.

'Goodbye my Jade' she said, attempting to smile

'Don't say goodbye. I don't like goodbyes'

'See you soon then' she hugged me once last time before turning and heading out the door.

She turned around and waved before she finally left.

That was it. I was alone. I didn't know what to do now.

I looked through all my bags and boxes and decided to unpack a few things. I started with my bathroom things and placed al my shower gels and shampoo and conditioners and all of that type of things in their place and sat back on my bed.

I heard a lot of scrambling and muffled talking outside my door so I got up to see what the commotion was.

I saw a girl pulling a load of bags into the room next to mine whilst trying to hold the door open. I walked over to help her with a few of her bags as she seemed to be struggling quite a bit.

She looked up and her angry face slightly dropped and she smiled lightly.

'Thank you so much' she said as we pulled some of her bags into her room

'No problem' I smiled. As I was done I turned to walk out because I didn't want to intrude but she called me back

'I'm Hazel. What's your name?' she asked, putting her bag down

'Jade' I said and smiled

'What course are you doing?'

'Media and Sociology, you?'

'Psychology. Shame, thought you might have been in the same class. Do you fancy having a look around?' she smiled

'Sure. I haven't seen that much of the place yet'

Hazel and I walked out of the room and into the hall which was filled with other students. It was all so hectic and chaotic. It was all overwhelming.

We sat down and began talking. Over the short space of time we were sat there, I had gotten to know Hazel a bit more and she seemed very nice.

Later that night I phoned Ashton, I was so glad to hear his voice again

'Well, you'll be glad to know that all the people in my living area are all girls' I laughed

'Oh good. You didn't see that Bradley guy again did you?' he asked
