Chan loved arcades. It was where he thought he thrived other than the producing studio. It had been ages since he'd been, though. The last time was when he was probably in middle school- before he had the responsibilities of being a leader. And now, he was the leader of the Kpop boy group Stray Kids. And right at that moment, he found himself at the arcade, staring at the neon lights that lit up the welcoming entrance. But instead of standing with his team, Chan had someone else standing next to him: you.
You had started off as one of Chan's first best friends when he moved to South Korea. But over the seven years of training, the two of you had grown awfully close. So close that even Changbin and Jisung, hadn't known about your secret meetings. But one day, he had popped a question, and both of you laughed at your positive reaction. So, now here you were, standing in front of an arcade, ready to go on your first date with Bang Chan.
The place smelled of pizza fresh out of the oven along with other snacks. Kids ran around the arcade, bouncing from one game to the next. You'd never really been into an arcade before, so everything about this was exciting to you. You liked the idea of feeling like a kid again.
"Okay, so what should we do first? How about a game of basketball. You just have to shoot as many hoops as possible in a minute. Wanna play?"
You nodded your head eagerly. Sports had never had a spot on your list of hobbies, but you were willing to play a friendly game even though you were sure Chan was going to win. Your boyfriend inserted a couple of coins into the machine, and the game spurred to life. You grabbed a basketball and aimed for the basket, effortlessly scoring a point. You instantly found a rhythm, realizing you didn't need to actually know how to play basketball to master the game.
"Wow! This is so much fun!" you squealed. You kept racking up points. Meanwhile, Chan wasn't having the best of luck. Almost every shot he made bounced off the backboard or danced around the rim before toppling in the wrong direction. When the game finished, it was obvious who the winner was.
"WHAT?! I WON!" you cheered. "This is my first time playing. Wow!"
Chan smiled, but he wasn't giving up. He was going to impress you with his arcade skills before the night was over, no matter what.
The next game was a soccer simulation. But Chan kept missing the goal even though it took up half the wall. He thought he'd have better luck with a dance game, but he was eliminated pretty quickly. It went just like that for the next couple of games he attempted until finally, the two of you decided to leave the arcade and grab something yummy to eat.
Chan paid for spicy rice cakes, and you found a bench under a willow tree to eat it under.
"I'm sorry, Y/N," Chan said suddenly.
That caught you off guard. "Sorry? For what? You didn't do anything."
Chan lowered his head in embarrassment like a puppy being scolded. "I'm sorry I couldn't impress you at the arcade. I guess my skills are rustier than I anticipated. I looked like an icon of failure."
That made you laugh, and you set down your cup with the rice cakes, cupping his cheeks with your warm hands. "Aw, Chan, you know how cute you are? Even though you weren't the best at anything, you kept trying. Aww and did you know you wrinkle your nose when you're super concentrated? It's kinda adorable. And-"
Chan leaned forward and pecked you on the lips. "Thanks, Y/N." He studied your taken aback expression and moved closer to you. His lips slowly met yours, and your heart pounded inside of your chest. You wanted the feeling to last forever. Chan pulled away, and he laughed at your blazing red cheeks.
"I'm lucky to have found you. Also, are you going to finish those rice cakes? I'll take them if you don't want them," he teased, and you playfully tried to push him off the bench.
"They're mine. And so are you," you grinned.
