Seungmin was excited to be joining the baseball team this year at his high school.  It was his last year, so he wanted to go out with a bang.  He used to play baseball as a kid, but his studies and joining Stray Kids had taken up a huge chunk of his time.

He walked onto the field, adjusting the tight pants that gripped his legs.  The coach handed him his helmet and pointed to the mound of dirt where he would be pitching from.  Seungmin nodded, slipping his hand into the glove that fit just right.  He had definitely missed everything about the sport.  He used to throw pitches that the batter could never seem to hit.  And when he was practicing at the batting cages yesterday, he was pretty sure he hadn't lost his touch.

He let his hand get adjusted to the feel of the baseball in his mitt before winding his arm up to make the pitch, but just before he threw the ball, he locked eyes with the batter- you.  And his arm went limp and the ball flew only a couple feet in front of him.  Because those eyes he had met with his own were covered with glittery eyeshadow the color of the jersey and intense eyeliner made your gaze pop.

There was a girl on the baseball team?  Seungmin looked at the coach, and he laughed heartily.  "Y/N is the only girl on the team.  She has talent that no one could come close to touching.  She hits more home runs than we can count."

Seungmin was shocked, but he was sure the pitchers before her just went easier on you.  He would have no mercy on you.  Once again, he reeled his arm began, throwing a pitch so fast, he was sure you wouldn't be able to hit it, but your eyes narrowed, and you swung your bat at just the right time, sending the ball flying straight towards Seungmin, whacking him in the cheek.

"Whoa," he stumbled backwards, clutching his face, and you dropped your bat, running over to him.  You leaned down, tenderly running your fingers over the bruise that was already forming.

"Since I was the one to injure him, I'll take him to the school nurse," you turned to coach before helping Seungmin up and tossing your helmet onto the grass.  Your hair was short, almost as short as his but with long, styled layers.  He was just now noticing your light spray of freckles across the bridge of your nose, and he smiled.

"You're really good," Seungmin spoke.  "Um, I can see why you're on the team."

"You're not to shabby yourself," you nudged him in the side, and he pretended to double over in pain, and you caught him in your embrace, helping him up only to notice his teasing grin.  "Ya," you whined.  "I thought I actually hurt you."

The nurse's office was empty, so you helped Seungmin onto a bed, and you put on some gloves and grabbed some ice and some antiseptic to put on the small cut under his eye.

"Wait, are you sure you can do this?  Like you're not certified or anything-"

You laughed.  "I mean, I don't know if I should, but I know the basics.  Alright, look up and try not to move."  You carefully treated his wound and started icing the bruise.  "I'm sorry I damaged your handsome face," and that's when you realized you had spoken out loud.

Seungmin looked at you, putting his hand on your wrist.  "You know, maybe you did hit a home run," he winked, but you couldn't really tell if he was winking or if that was just his swollen eye twitching.  Whatever the case, it was cute.

"Wanna grab dinner sometime?" you asked, and Seungmin was taken aback by you once again, his heart pounding in excitement.

"Sure thing.  Um, we should probably get back out on the field.  We don't want the coach to worry about us," Seungmin scratched the back of his neck shyly.

You laughed, the sound a twinkle in the boy's ears.  "I'm scared I might give you another black eye if you pitch again."

Seungmin grinned, his swollen eye and cheek wrinkling.  "I guess you'll be the only thing I see, then."
