You spread out the checkered blanket on the carpet of vibrant, green grass. There couldn't have been a better day for a picnic than this one. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the bees were humming. Even more, you had your best friend friend by your side. Jeongin, too, was beyond excited for the fun day you had planned. It wasn't his birthday or anything special.  It was just another sunny summer day with you.

A butterfly flew in front of your face before perching itself on Jeongin's head.  The boy was oblivious to it all, making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the two of you.  Yours had to have extra jelly, of course.  Jeongin handed the sandwich to you, before taking a huge bite out of his own.

"Jeonginie, you're so cute," you cooed, and the boy felt his cheeks heat up.  Most guys didn't like being called cute, but if it was coming from you, he didn't mind.  He took another munch, and you giggled, watching the butterfly fly away.

Jeongin usually loved eating.  He was on the skinnier side, but he could fit about ten sandwiches in that lean body of his.  Where it went, he wasn't exactly sure, but he was always hungry.  However, today, he wasn't really feeling even one sandwich.  With just those two bites, he was full.

"You feeling okay?  You look like you might throw up any second.  We can pack up and do this another day if you want.  I'm sure there'll be another day just as good or better than this one."

Jeongin smiled at your sincerity, but he didn't want another day.  He wanted today to be the best day ever.  He wanted to tell you that his heart was bursting with emotions for you.  For a while, he hadn't been sure what he was feeling.  To be honest, he thought maybe he had come down with some sort of illness because his heart beat unusually fast whenever he laid eyes on you.  His best friend Seungmin had described it as "puppy love" or even "the butterflies."  Whatever the case, Jeongin had come to realize that you meant more to him than just a best friend.

He was more than nervous, but he knew if he kept waiting, he would never be able to say anything.  But what if he said something, and you didn't feel the same?  Not only would he have lost his chance to be with you but your beautiful friendship, as well.

"Jeongin?" you asked carefully.  You moved closer and gently placed a hand on his forehead.  "Goodness, I think you have a fever!  Let's get you to the-"

He grabbed your wrist, and pulled you back down next to him.  "Y/N, I'm sick, but not like physically sick.  It's because," he stopped himself.  His heart was beating so fast, and his stomach was doing backflips like it was the Olympics, or something.

"What?  It's because what?" you questioned.

"It's because I really really like you.  I know you're probably into the bad boy, tall, confident type, and I'm just a cupcake with  braces, but I really enjoy the time we spend together."

You sat back, your cheeks blazing.  This was the first time you had ever been at a loss for words.

"Man, I really shouldn't have said anything, right?"  Jeongin pouted.  He turned away to hide the embarrassment that was making itself evident across his face.

You slipped your hand into his and leaned forward, kissing him on the cheek.  "Jeonginnnnnie, you don't know how long I debated on telling you the same thing!  You're like the cutest, most amazing guy ever.  Why would I ever want anyone else?"

"That's right.  Why would you want anyone else?" he giggled, tickling your sides.  His stomach rumbled, and the two of you proceeded to make more sandwiches, content that every day from now on would be the best day ever.
