Felix blinked, but no matter how many times he pinched himself, his vision wasn't fooling him. The other members looked on with interest, introducing themselves one by one to the new dance instructor that would be working with Stray Kids. He was the last member to give his introduction, and he politely bowed a perfect 90 degree angle.
"Hello. I'm Felix," he said, his deep voice echoing in the dance studio. Chan studied his fellow bandmate's expression after detecting the slight quiver in his voice.
You followed his lead, confidently bowing. "Hi, my name is Y/N. I'll be your new dance instructor and trainer. I hope we can work together well." Your confidence was only a facade. As soon as your eyes had landed on Felix, you felt weak. Not in a bad way. You just hadn't seen the boy in so long.
Chan wasn't 100% sure what was going on, but he guessed you and Felix probably knew each other and needed some time alone. "Hey, guys. Why don't we go back to the dorms and clean? It's been a while since we've wiped down the place."
The members groaned but followed Chan out the door, anyways. Felix, however, stayed behind, still staring in disbelief at you. There was a story you two shared. But along the way, you had chosen different paths. What had it been? A year? Only a year? Felix stayed anchored in his spot, so you took the initiative and slowly moved towards him.
"It's been a while," you started, and Felix immediately pulled you into a hug. You could feel his body trembling against yours. "It feels like 100 years."
You and Felix had been best friends in Australia before he decided to join JYP Entertainment and started training to be in a boy group in South Korea. Of course you had been happy for him, but you had been besties since kindergarten. And maybe around middle school, you realized you liked him. Better yet, a couple months before he left, he had confessed his feelings for you. You remembered it like it happened yesterday.
The beach was surprisingly empty for a Saturday morning. The sand was hot, burning the sensitive skin on the bottom of your feet, but you didn't mind. Felix and you had grown used to the harsh weather the summers in Australia had to offer. The turquoise waters were calming as usual.
"Y/N, before I tell you this next thing, I wanted to tell you something. I, um, I've had feelings for you for a while, now. If you asked me when they started, I wouldn't be able to respond. I just know that it's been a long time since they've been around. However, I feel bad for saying this."
"Why? You shouldn't feel bad. I have feel-"
"It's because I'm moving to Seoul in South Korea soon. I'll be leaving this life behind to pursue my career in music and dance. It's going to be a whole different world over there, and I'll have to learn the language, but since Mom speaks Korean a lot at home, I think I'll be fine. I just feel guilty that I like you, and I can't do anything about it."
You brought yourself back to reality. You had never told him about your feelings that day. Your conscience stopped you from placing an even heavier burden on him. Stopping him from his dreams- how could you have even dared to stop him when that was all he ever talked about?
"I missed you a lot," Felix admitted. "How'd you find me?"
"I was going to ask you the same thing," you whispered. "I'm just happy we're together again."
Felix nodded. "Me too. By the way, I did a lot of reflecting, and I realized something. Can you tell me now?"
"Tell you what?"
"If I remember correctly, you were saying something on the beach that day before I cut you off and told you I was moving to Seoul. What was it that you were saying?"
"It's been a year. How am I supposed to remember?" you lied, but you knew Felix wasn't buying it.
"If you say so. I have to go meet the other members at the dorm, but I'll see you tomorrow for practice," Felix waved, and just like that, he was gone. It reminded you of the moment he had stepped into the airport, leaving you behind in a country that now seemed so foreign and empty.
"I have feelings for you. I like you. You're all I could ever think about no matter how much I tried to get over you. Every time I thought of your face, I'd smile. And when you weren't by my side, I missed you." Tears streamed down your cheeks, and you were thankful only your reflection in the many mirrors lining the walls could see. You dried your eyes but jumped at the sound of the door opening.
"You do?" Felix stood there, tears threatening to spill. He had heard it all from behind the door. "You feel that way?"
"I do. I guess you've probably moved on. Don't worry. I'll try my best to get over my measly feelings. You don't have to feel awkward around me."
Felix shuffled forward, wiping a stray tear away with the pad of his thumb. "Don't do that. I haven't thought of anyone but you. I want to keep it that way."
You smiled warmly. "Lee Felix, if this is a joke-"
Felix kissed your cheek. "There. I proved it. Now do you believe me?"
"Huh? Oh, um, sure. I, uh, forgot I had somewhere else to be." You were about to walk past him when he grabbed your wrist, spinning you around so you were in his warm embrace.
"Thank you for waiting for me after all this time. I don't think I have the heart to leave you ever again."
"You better not," you grinned, and the two of you walked hand in hand out of the building.
