(S/N)= Son's name
(D/N)= daughter's name
I was putting away the dishes from dinner when I felt a tug on my pants. I look down at my five year old son holding my pant leg with one hand and rubbing his eye with the other one. He yawns and looks up at me with his tired blue eyes. He wore a pale blue shirt and red plaid pajama pants. His (H/C) hair had grown out due to not getting it trimmed yet. He didn't have many freckles, mainly only one which was right under his left eye.
"You ready for bed sweetie?" I ask. He yawns again nodding his head. He raises his arms up reaching for me, wanting me to pick him up. I smile and pick him up holding him on my hip so as to not hurt the baby I was carrying. He lays his head on my shoulder and sticks his thumb in his mouth. I carry him to his bed room and lay him down in his bed. I pull his dinosaur blanket over him and tuck him in.
"Mommy?" he asks sleepily.
"Yeah sweetie?"
"When's daddy coming home?" he asks. Yukio had been sent out on a mission two states over. He said it could take about four days, he had only left two days ago.
"He'll be coming home soon. Get some sleep okay?"
"Tell me a story mommy."
"What story do you want to hear?"
"Hmm..." he hummed thinking. "I want to hear a story about a knight and he has to fight monsters." he says. I giggle and think of a story to tell him.
~Time skip 30 minutes~
I had finished cleaning up and making sure the door were locked and headed back to mine and Yukio's room. I had taken a shower and now was sitting in bed reading a book. As I was reading I heard my phone chime. I stopped reading and picked up my phone. It was Yukio who had texted me.
Y~ The mission was easy so I'll be home by nine tomorrow morning.
M~ That's great Honey! I can't wait to see you and neither can (S/N).
Y~ I missed you both. I have to go, Rin is... being Rin. I love you. <3
M~ XD I love you too.
I put my phone and book down and sink into the covers.
I woke up the next morning with a start. (S/N) had jumped onto the bed roaring like he was a dinosaur. I swooped him up in my arms and tickled him a bit. He squirmed and giggled. I stopped and looked at him.
"Come on let's go get some breakfast." I say.
"Yay!" he cheers climbs off the bed. He ran out of the room and down the hall. I laugh at him. I slip out of bed and followed him into the kitchen. He had pulled out his chair at his table.
"Hey why don't you draw daddy a picture for when he comes home?" His eyes light up and he smiles.
"Okay!" he says pulling out a piece of paper and his crayons out of the table and began drawing. I smiled and started on making pancake batter and grabbed the bacon out of the refrigerator. I poured the batter on the heated pan and start on the bacon as well. Every so often I'd look over at (S/N), he was so immersed in his coloring that his tongue poked out the side of his mouth. I laughed to myself as I went back to cooking.
By the time I had finished cooking it was five till nine. I cut up (S/N)'s pancakes and filled his sippy cup with milk. I walked over and sat his plate down in front of him, as soon as I did the front door opened. (S/N)'s head turned to look at the door, his eyes widened. (S/N) stood up with his picture in hand.
"Daddy!" yelled (S/N) as he ran into the living room. I walked out of the kitchen and into the living room to see Yukio holding (S/N) smiling at him. "Daddy I drew you a picture!"
"Did you now?" he asks. (S/N) nods his head. I walk over and stand beside Yukio and look at (S/N)'s drawing. There were two tall stick figures, a smaller stick figure and a stick figure that looks like it's laying in a basket.
"That ones you daddy and that one's mommy, there's me and that's my baby sister there." says (S/N).
"That's really good (S/N). Let's go hang it on the fridge okay?" says Yukio.
"Kay!" he says happily. We walk back into the kitchen and (S/N) hangs it on the fridge with the letter H.
"Now everyone can see it." says Yukio as he sets (S/N) on the floor. "Go finish your breakfast then we can all go to the park."
"Yay!" he cheers and runs over to his table. Yukio turns to me smiling. He wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me close.
"I missed you." I say.
"I missed you two. Well I should say I missed the three of you." he says referring to the baby. I smile and pull him into a kiss.
"Ew! Mommy daddy! That's gross!" says (S/N). We pull away and laugh at him.
"You'll understand one day son. You'll fall in love too." I say.
"Yeah. And you'll have to keep all the boys away from (D/N). I don't want her getting hurt by boys." says Yukio making me laugh.
"I get to protect sissy like you protect me and mommy. Right daddy?" he asks.
"Yes. Yes you will." says Yukio.
