Depression is a suffocation device
that works better than a bag over your head
because at least with a bag
you can poke holes in
and breathe a little,
but with depression you get all
the oxygen inside you sucked out.
It blackens your organs and rots your bones
with just a touch and a whisper.
It stares at you in the mirror
and yells out 'boo!' every time you look away
because you thought for a moment
that if finally left and you were finally alone.
Depression is more than just not being able
to get out of bed or do any work,
it's the reason why people go insane,
and depression with a broken heart
is even worse because not only do you
have a blackened heart but now it's shattered
into millions of pieces and is scattered
all over your ribs.
It's a disease that takes over you
and there is no pill that can make you feel okay
no matter how hard your psychiatrist
tries to tell you so
because it's been 4 years and still
nothing seems to work.
You're still that jagged 4 out of 10
with 10 being no depression at all.
