I started screaming when you left me,
it was only heard in my mind
but I wish you could have heard
how much it hurt
when I removed those thorns
from every inch of me.
If I had known that you were going to leave me,
I would have run away as far as I could
until I couldn't find my way back to you,
so that you couldn't slit me open
the way I slit myself open
with steel blades and honest words.
I swear that I'm losing my mind
and every last sane part about me,
but the pain feels a hundred times worse
when I see that you're
doing so good without me.
I feel that I can still hear myself
scream in my dreams,
and I swear I wake up
with blood running down
my ears and blood
running down my cheeks.
Sometimes I think that
the sky is crying for me
whenever it rains
and I'm driving home
alone.
