When she walked into the ring she was the only thing i could concentrate on. She seemed to glow with beauty. Her eyes were magnificent shade of grey. When Natasha picked Tess to fight i was this close to punching Natasha myself. Thankfully that girl saved Tess and i relaxed a little. I wanted to stay safe so i put my bet on Natasha. When the fight began, and i look at their stances and i knew i made a mistake choosing Natasha. Natasha's stance is like a bull. The girl's stance is like a viper. When i wake up i realize that i was having a dream about the fight. When m eyes adjust i see Tess and the girl sitting up and talking like they were old friends. They saw me awake and stopped talking . They stare at me blankly. I also see that the girl's wounds are bandaged. I turn to Tess and say,
"When'd you guys get up?"
"About seveno'clock," Tess replies back. I look at the girl again. Her grey eyes are locked onto my blue eyes. We kept staring at each other; then finally she dropped her graze.
"Where'd you learn how to fight like that?" i ask the girl. She hesitates for a moment like she doesn't want to give anything away. She finally says,
"I taught myself. i watched people fight in the streets or go to the skiz fight and i just practice." From the corner of my eye i can see Tess's mouth fall open.
"Why's you save me huh?" the girl asks. To be honest, i really don't know why. For one she helped Tess, but for another she cost me about 2500 dollars.
"Well you saved Tess from fighting Natasha," i say. She looked at me then at Tess. Then i add,
"But you cost me 2500 dollars."
"Oh," the girl says. Then there was an awkward silence. Finally Tess says,
"Well that's enough for the morning; who's hungry?" The girl looks at me then laughs. She has a half air laugh and half actually laughing. It's kind of cute. After a moment i start to laugh too. After we eat i tell Tess i'm going to see John. She says okay. Every criminal knows that the best place to travel is at the rooftops. I decide not to. I don't think anybody will recognize me. Once i get to my house, the big X is still there. I wince. It still hurts to think about the fact that my mother has the plague. I knock on John's window. There was no answer. I knock again. This time John comes in. He unlocks the window and stares at me.
"Daniel? You look so different." i shrug. He climbs out and bursts into tears and hugs me.
"Tess came by earlier and i told her everything. I don't know what to do. Mom has the plague!" John says.
"I know and chill out. I 'm going to find a way to get the plague cures okay," i say. He nods. John wiping away tears asks,
"You meet anyone new?" i nod and say
"Two actually. One boy named Sutter and a girl named Girl. I don't know her name so i'm just going to call her girl." He grins.
"I gotta go but visit again." I nod and i run back to the alley.
