? POV

I rummaged through my closet. I had to have SOMETHING that looked remotely like what a sorceress would wear! Exasperated and frustrated, I gave up and instead put on a camouflage ninja suit. Hopefully I'll have a smaller chance of being spotted if I hide in some bushes or something.

I was just finishing putting some throwing stars into hidden, but easily accessible pockets, when I heard a knock at my door. I opened it to find my friend, Carly, standing there. "Hello friend." She said in a weird voice. It was a mocking tone, an inside joke. We started it to make fun of a really obnoxious teacher we had had named Wu. I laughed and let her in. "What brings you here Car?" I asked. "I just wanted to see if you wanted to..." Then she stopped, noticing for the first time that I was wearing battle gear and camouflage. Her eyes found my shining, newly sharpened, katana that was resting next to the door. "And where were you going?" She said, accusation and curiosity filling her voice. "Uh... nowhere?" I said, questioning myself as I said so. She gave me a look. A, "I totally know you're doing something you shouldn't be and will find out what it is," look. She nodded and turned back out the door. "Well I see you're busy so I'll go." She said. Just before she left I saw her face, and I knew I was in for lots of pestering and questioning later. "By Maggie!" She called, and then skipped off down the road.

Julia's Mother's POV

I told them everything Julia told me; the council that is. My husband and I had been sitting in the waiting room for hours while our leaders pondered what to do about this situation. "They're ready to see you again." A tall man in a business suit said. He held the door for us and ushered us through. "We have reached a decision..." The head council member, Damian, announced. All that was left to do was wait.

Maggie's POV

I picked up my katana from beside the door and caressed the smooth, shiny, side of it before slipping it into my case that was strapped to my back. Then quickly and quietly, I slipped out of the house and into the warm afternoon air.

The sun blazed high over head as I made my way to the sorcerers' side of town. As I neared the first few buildings, I began to walk through dense shrubbery and foliage. Leaves and twigs grabbed at my body and pulled my hair. Ignoring them, I continued my trek through the woods, always staying near the road, but not too close that I'd be seen.

Julia's POV

I decided to do what my mom had suggested and meet up with a friend or two. I made my way from the house and down the street to a place I knew too well: the park. As I had predicted, Tara was there with her younger sister.

"Hey!" I said, walking over to them. "How are things?" I asked. "I'm good. You?" Tara said. "Umm..." I hope she didn't notice I hesitated or that I was a little pale. "Good." I lied. She gave me a look that lasted for a mere second. Dang it! She knows something's up...

Tara's POV

Ok so Julia's keeping a secret from me for sure. Shouldn't be too hard to make her spill it. But to do so I needed a plan... And a good one at that...
