Angélie's POV

I woke up to sun streaming through my window. Giant fluffy pillows surrounded my head and a warm quilt was tucked under my chin. I felt... Empty.

"You're awake." A soft voice said.

"Hmm? Oh, yeah."

"She's beautiful."

"Who?" I asked, sitting up straight.

I saw Azrael sitting in a chair in the corner of the room. He stood and I noticed a blanket in his hands. It moved. He walked over to me and I saw what was in the bundle. A baby.

"Is she?" I asked nervously.

"She's yours." Azrael said.

I thought I saw a slight smile on his face.

"Why don't I remember?"

"I gave you a potion. A special potion. It allowed you to give birth while not truly being awake. It would keep you from feeling pain." He handed me the baby.

I felt tears of joy leak from my eyes and a smile light up my lips.

"But why do you care? If I feel pain?" I said as a frown replaced the smile.

Azrael looked shocked. Like he hadn't even realized he had cared.

"I don't care!"

"Well you just helped me! You must care at least a little bit!"

"I don't!"

"Yes you do! Rome is still deep down in there somewhere, just admit it!"

He looked away from me, biting his lip. Without another word he left.

As soon as the door shut again, I looked down at my little girl. She was healthy and beautiful. She yawned suddenly and opened her little eyes. They were the deepest blue; they were little sapphires shining brightly.

"Hello Clary." I whispered.

Clary. It just sounded right.

Time Skip a few hours

.....................................

Angel children grow quickly in their early years. They can grow 10 years in a few hours. Once they hit ten, the growing slows down to the same as a human's. It's a slight advantage so that they get their magic faster. Without magic, angels can't survive on Earth. We need glamours to hide our wings. Angels don't have enough magic for glamours until teenage years. Therefore, growing 10 years in a few hours sounds better than you might think.

Though it has only been a few hours, it's felt like years. I got to watch Clary grow up in a matter of minutes. She has beautiful fire red hair and her smile lights up the room.

"Mommy I'm hungry!" She whined.

"Alright sweet heart. Stay here and do not open the door for anyone. I'm going to get you food."

Clary nodded.

"Ok." She squeaked.

I didn't want to leave Clary alone, but there was a higher chance we'd run into Azrael outside the room, than if I left Clary in it.

Kissing Clary's forehead, I grabbed the key to the room and locked the door behind me. I made my way to the kitchen and fixed myself and Clary sandwiches. Compared to the warehouse, this house was incredible. It was a mansion, and a fancy one at that.

Clary's POV

I know I'm not like other children. For starters, just hours ago I was a little baby, no bigger than a basketball. I also have powers. Strange powers.

"Angélie! Open the door!" A voice said.

I gasped. It was him. The man my mother wouldn't speak of. What was it mom said? Hide and don't let anyone in.

I crawled under the bed just as I heard the door slam open.

"ANGÉLIE!" The voice boomed. "Damn it!"

"Hello?" I recognized the voice as my mom's

"Angélie where were you? Why was the door locked?"

"I was getting food and no reason."

I crawled forward enough to see the two adults talking. The man looked at my mother suspiciously. Then he smirked.

"I think I know the reason." He yelled.

Then he slammed the door in her face.

"No!" My mom yelled and I heard pounding on the door.

"Little girl, little girl, where are you?" The man whispered in an evilly sweet voice.

Strangely, I wasn't afraid. I stood up from under the bed.

"My name isn't 'little girl' it's Clary."

"Well nice to meet you. I'm Azrael."

"Why did you lock mom outside?"

"No reason."

"You're a terrible liar."

"You're just a little girl. What would you know?"

"I may not know much, but I can do lots of things."

I was angry now. I saw my reflection in a mirror and noticed my eyes had turned red. My hair was floating around my shoulders and I suddenly had the sensation to burn Azrael to the ground.

Flames erupted around me and my eyes glowed like hot coals. Azrael took a step back, fear showing in his ruby eyes.

"Who's a little girl now?" I roared.

Then the flames took everything.
