Maggie's POV

How I slept through all of yesterday was still a mystery to me. Why Carly was stalking me through my window was also still a mystery to me. Time to make a call.

"Hello?"

"Carly it's Maggie."

"Hey friend. Ready to tell me where you were?"

"Uh, no."

"Awww."

"Anyway, why were you watching me through my window today?"

"What? I was out to eat with my family this morning. I wasn't at your house."

Oh god... If Carly wasn't the one at my window, then who was?

"Maggie? Hello? You still there?"

"Yeah, but I gotta go."

And I hung the phone up before she could question. Something weird is going on and I have to get to the bottom of it. But I can't do it alone; I needed some back up.

I called Julia and Tara and told them to meet me at our normal lunch cafe and then headed out.

Seth's POV

I walked into the cafe that Sammy and I planned to meet at. It was quiet and empty besides three teenage girls that sat at a table in the back. One looked up and saw me. We stared at one another until I heard the door open again. I broke the awkward stare and turned to see Sammy, looking adorable, walk towards me. I stole one more quick look at the girl but her eyes had snapped back down to the table.

"Hey Seth." "Hi Sammy. What's new?" "Oh nothing really." She said. We sat down and ordered lunch and coffee.

"So what class are you?" "I'm sorry?" Sammy asked confused. "What class sorceress are you?" "What are you talking about? Sorcerers aren't real, right?"

Great job Seth. You not only managed to screw up your first "date" but you also happened to fall in love with a human.

"You're human..." I said absentmindedly. "Uh, yeah; aren't you?" "Yeah of course, but listen... Magic is real. I am a sorcerer."

She stared at me, and I mentally face palmed. "Prove it." Was all she said. So I conjured up a small flame in the palm of my hand.

"Whoa..." "Pretty cool huh? That's not all I can do, but it'd be unwise to show you in a public place frequented by humans." Sammy nodded. "Well why don't you show me afterward. I'm not busy..."

And then a loud bang was heard and a flash erupted and suddenly the windows exploded. Reflexes taking over, I jumped up and magic flowed through me and my cloak appeared. I could feel the power within me. I saw out of the corner of my eye two of the girls from the other table had also jumped up and were conjuring sorcerer cloaks and magic.

Shadows spilled into the cafe. Living shadows. Suddenly fear coursed through my veins and visions from a few weeks ago flashed through my head. The headaches, the dead girls, the shadow sword stuck in my chest, and that ghostly figure.

"Seth!" I hadn't realized Sammy had been shaking me and calling my name. I shook my head. "Seth you were so pale. Are you ok?" I nodded just as a shadowy tentacle wrapped itself around Sammy's waist.

"SETH HELP!" She screamed as she dissolved into the shadows. "LET HER GO!" I yelled. "Sssseth." A voice hissed. "I thought I disposed of you... Oh well. You won't be a threat."

Then out of nowhere, two figures jumped forward and magic shot from their hands into the shadow. It was the two girls from before. Then following behind, came a ninja. I gasped, realizing she had been the third girl at the table; the one who had stared at me.

The shadow roared and grabbed the ninja out of nowhere. She screamed and struggled but to no avail. Then it grabbed one of the sorceresses. They both dissolved into the shadow like Sammy. Then the shadow disappeared altogether.
