Chapter Twenty Four

“Okay I’m afraid...that this is going to have to be our last song!” Harry called out through the microphone.

His voice was magnified all throughout the arena. The screaming was so loud I had to cover my ears. The show had been amazing though, despite all the screaming fans. Everyone sang along, including me and Rose. The boys kept catching our eyes from where we sat back stage and laughing  at us.

“This song you will definitely all know…” Niall shouted.

The music started playing but there was a big shout of “WAIT!” and the music was stopped again. I looked at Harry shocked. He looked a bit startled too, like he hadn’t expected himself to do that. He looked over to me, sitting in my chair.

“I want to dedicate this song to my amazing girlfriend, Alice. We recently had a fight but everything is sorted now because we loved each other too much to let go of each other. A few weeks ago, Alice had an accident. An accident that could have easily been fatal if she wasn’t so lucky. Alice doesn’t know whether she will ever walk again. We find out that particular piece of information tomorrow. She is here tonight. Do you think we should bring her out here so I can sing to her?” The arena which had gone so silent you could have heard a pin drop turned into a pit of… I can’t even describe how loud the cheering was but it was incredible. I swear it could have blown the roof off.

Harry walked over to me, leaving the stage. He came up to me and whispered in my ear “Do I have permission to take control of the chair?” I giggled and nodded. He clicked the small brakes that had been keeping my wheelchair in place and wheeled me onto the stage. The crowd didn’t cheer. In fact the people whose faces you could see were standing there looking horrified. Had there been no pictures of me in my chair yet? And Harry had said I may not ever walk again. So why were they so mortified by me?

I suppose they just had to get over the shock of seeing Alice McGreggor, Harry’s girlfriend in a wheelchair which a big brace holding her back into place.

Harry got down on his knees in front of me. We were facing side on to the audience. He grabbed both my hands with one of his and held a microphone with the other.

Harry moved the microphone up to his mouth and started to sing, his sweet voice flooding the arena with beautiful notes.

‘You’re insecure

Don’t know what for

You’re turning heads when you walk through the do-or-or

Don’t need make up

To cover up

Being the way that you are is enou-ou-ough’

The words were slowed down in pace with only the soft keys of the key board accompanying his voice. The other boys didn’t join in because this was mine and Harry’s moment. They just watched in silence, as did the audience.

‘Everyone else in the room can see it

 Everyone else but you

Baby you light up my world like nobody else

The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed

And when you smile at the ground it ain’t hard to tell
