I envisioned a lonely old lady and a lonely old man who are soulmates but never meet until they both die and are finally united in heaven
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An old man of eighty three
Feeding birds some seeds
On a bench in the park
Hoping sometime soon he'll embark
On a journey to a land where everyone is safe
And he'll never have to worry again
On a journey to a place where he can start anew
And finally his pain will end
He remembers all the people
That he used to push away
He remembers pitied looks
On their faces when he said he's okay
He's been alone for all this time
Surely soon, he will die
Lonely and that's okay for once in his life
An old woman of eighty two
Staring into the ocean blue
She looks at the stars in the sky of dark
Hoping sometime soon she'll embark
On a journey to a land where everyone is safe
And she'll never have to worry again
On a journey to a place where she can start anew
And finally she can find a friend
She remembers all the people
That would send odd looks her way
She remembers all the books she read
To help her feel okay
She's been alone for all this time
Surely soon, she will die
Lonely and that's okay for once in her life
One day soon
In a white out room
Wearing all white clothes, she sees
A man like her
Just old as dirt
And lonely as one could be
She walks over to him
And smiles and says
"Nice to meet you old man"
He smiled right back
And then they laughed
And then he took her hand
They remember all the people
Who would never walk their way
They remember all the cruel looks
That tormented their younger days
They've been alone for all this time
Finally things are just fine
They're happy and that's the first time in their lives
