breathe

"Hey" I whisper in your ear

"Just take it easy, there's nothing to fear"

But I know better than anyone

That we're so close to being gone

"You're fine" I whisper in your fright

"Just try to calm your breath, and match mine"

And I really hope you can't tell

But my hands are shaking as well

I'll keep you safe in the dead silence

From the monsters in your head, they're crying

So inhale the peace, and exhale the anxiety

Your demons can't get you if you're holding on to me

I'll keep you safe from the whispers

In your brain after its late

I'll keep it quiet when they're oh so very loud

I'll keep it quiet when your mind aches

 Just hold my hand real tight

We'll make it through the night

'Cause we're too young to die

So let's just take a moment to make this right

Just look me in the face

I promise you, we'll be okay

I'll tell them you're not theirs to take

I'll make a shield and they'll stay away
