Hey guys! I'm gonna skip straight to the concert, because I want to get to the good bits and not keep stringing the story along. xxxx
The Concert
This was it. The day was finally here. My palms were clammy with sweat when we rolled up onto the parking of the hotel. The hotel was massive, at least 5 stories high. If our hotel was big, then God knows what Wembley would be like.
I suddenly felt really sick. Almost as if someone had dug a thousand knifes into my stomach. What was I doing? I glanced down at my white Home Girl Brooklyn crop top and skinny blue jeans. I kicked at the passenger seat with my black Toms.
"Hey, quit it, Soph!" Anna scolded from the front. I saw her flip the visor down and check her hair. She'd backcombed it so much. I watched her, buffing and pouting. I glanced wearily at myself in the mirror. I sighed when I saw that my curls had already dropped out. She glanced at me and smiled. "You look beautiful, don't worry." I gave Anna a crooked smile. She always guessed my thoughts.
"Yes, you both look fine. Although I wish you would stop making those silly duck faces, Anna. It looks ridiculous." I couldn't help but laugh at that. Anna's mom was always against posing and being chavvy. Not that Anna was chavvy. Sometimes she was just a little bit...common.
"Whatever!" Anna waved dismissively and leaned over to peck her mom on the cheek. "You'll be okay, yes? Have you got your money for the hotel? Remember to stick together, and call me if..."
Anna's mom didn't get to finish, because Anna had already shut the car door and headed to the boot of the car. She sighed and turned to face me. "Keep your eye on her, Soph. Make sure she doesn't leap up on the stage and pounce on that drummer."
I held my breath to stop myself from laughing and clambered out of the car. "See you soon, Helen."
It took us forever to get up to our hotel room. For starters, we struggled to get Anna's suitcase out of the boot. We were only staying the weekend, but she packed like she was moving out, and made ME pack a suitcase too. Madness.
Then, when we finally got into the reception, we found out that our room was on the top floor. And with me hating lifts, we had to take the stairs. Try climbing 5 flights of stairs with your moaning best friend and two massive bulging suitcases. Double madness.
Our room was brilliant. Two double beds, a big bathroom, dressing table, two sofa beds and a tiny window seat by the wide framed window. I sat down on the bed nearest the window, carefully stroking the cotton covers.
"Right! We'll unpack and then head off to the stadium. Shall we grab some food there?" I glanced up at Anna. She was wearing her tightest skinny black leggings and a tight pink crop top. She tottered around in her silver strapped heels, insisting that she'd see the stage better. Every so often she'd buff up her hair and flick at her big pink hooped earrings. She was dressed to impress, because she knew she was meeting Ashton, the drummer in 5SOS. She was mad about Ash like I was with Luke. I started to think about Luke. What would he think of me? Was it impossible that he'd fall in love with me, just like I had with him? How could he really like a little 15 year old strawberry blond school girl with serious anxiety and a big secret that...
"Soph?" Anna was already opening the door. "Are you ready?"
I stood up and smiled. "Ready as I'll ever be."
7PM ; THE CONCERT IS ABOUT TO BEGIN...
"Cmon! Where are they?" We were finally in the stadium. We managed to steal a good spot by the stage just in time, but not before rushing out for KFC and Starbucks. I looked up at the open roof. The stars were already pushing through the purple clouds. They were supposed to be on stage any minute now. Anna was jumping and shrieking, her video camera on ready. The stadium began to fill up. I started to panic. What if the music was too loud? What if it was too hot and squashed? What if...
