I know that I've updated twice in one day, and this one won't be the chapter that I'm looking forward to, but it will start in this one...I'm not saying anything else. Happy reading ;)
It Worked
I groaned in frustration and turned to lie on my belly. It was only 3pm, and we were planning to go out at 6pm, meaning that if everything went to plan, I'd take a "walk" with Luke at around 4. I had everything planned out, because I wanted it all to work out right. But that meant I had another hour to wait. After all these weeks of pushing Luke away, I finally wanted to get it over with.
"What are you whining about?" Michael deliberately bounced on the bed next to me, causing our shoulders to smack together. I breathed out deeply, trying not to get mad at him. "I'm just bored." I answered simply, sitting up. "Why are you hanging around me anyway? You usually don't wanna go anywhere near me."
Michael shrugged. "I don't. You're lame." I furrowed my eyebrows together as he continued talking. "But I've got nothing else to do." He shot a pointed look at Calum, who was curled up in his bed and fast asleep, and Ashton, who was wandering around the room and singing loudly. Luke was currently in the bathroom, so I kinda saw his point. I glanced back at him and grinned. "So you'd rather sit with me than be alone...like a loner?"
Michael nodded, lying down on his belly and staring up at me with shining eyes. He stayed silent for a moment, actually looking at me wistfully. "You're freaking me out." I broke the silence suddenly. Michael shrugged and averted his gaze, his eyes still big and almost...cute. "You've never looked at me like that before. What's up?"
Michael paused, before blushing slightly. "Do you know what that girl's name is behind the desk?"
"Michael!" I rolled my eyes in frustration as he sat up, laughing. "What? She's hot. I like her."
I looked at him in utter disgust. "Michael Clifford, you make no sense."
Michael raised an eyebrow teasingly. "What? Are you jealous?"
That hit a nerve. I glanced up at him, but couldn't help laughing. "Jealous? Really?!" Michael shrugged, laughing along. "Maybe! Maybe you've had a secret crush on me all along, and you're just mean to me to cover it up." I knew he was joking, and so was I when I nodded. "Sure Michael, you've been my dream crush forever."
We both started howling with laughter at that point, rolling across the bed and gasping for air. He knew I was only joking, but someone didn't. He didn't.
"Glad to hear it." His voice sent tingles down my spine. I sat bolt upright to face him. He'd changed his shirt, to a plain black one and a red flannel shirt over the top. His face was almost as red as the shirt. "I didn't mean it..." I started to explain, looking back at Michael for help. He was lying on his side, picking at the bed covers, obviously not as anxious as me. "We were messing about Luke. No big deal."
"Yeah, no big deal." Luke repeated, his eyes burning into mine. I felt a stab of pain as he turned around and walked over to Ash. I sighed deeply and rubbed my forehead. Jeez, what was his problem? Why did I always have to explain myself to him, when I'd done nothing wrong?
"Take no notice of him." I lifted my eyes to see Michael stood up, beckoning for me to follow him. I forced a smile and stood up too, shuffling over to the bed where Luke and Ash were sitting. Calum was now awake, talking to the other two guys about something. I quickly clambered across the bed and sat next to him, as far away from Luke as possible.
"This meeting is in session!" Ashton declared, pushing his glasses further up his nose. "Where are we going tonight? I reckon we should have a real fancy meal."
