You're About As Creative As A Tin Of Baked Beans
I stood, rooted to my spot. My heart fluttered. I hadn't seen him all day; I'd almost forgotten what he looked like. He towered above me, gazing at me, not taking his hand off the car door. He wasn't wearing his usual skinny jeans, but real fancy black trousers. He had a crisp clean white shirt on with smart cuffs that overlapped the sleeves of his black tuxedo jacket, and a long black tie. Still, he had his black Vans still slipped on his feet, and from inside the sleeve, his wristbands came peeking out. But tonight, he had that glimmer in his eyes. That shine, that made your heart skip a beat. That shine that told you tonight was gonna be a good night.
"Hi." I started off, breaking the silence. We were just standing there looking at each other. He just nodded, then looked past me to Calum. I turned around and gave him my biggest smile, but he didn't return it. He just dug his hand in his pockets and slunk back into the hotel. I spun back around to face Luke. He guessed that something was up, but he ignored it and held out his hand to me.
"After you." He finally spoke, his voice cracking when he attempted a British accent. I laughed and gladly took it as I tried very hard to gracefully climb (or in my case fall) into the limo.
The limo was dark and dimmed, with tiny little fairy lights illuminating the inside, making it all the more magical. I sat down on one side of the leather booth, right next to the huge golden stereo. Luke scooted back in and sat opposite me, smiling as he did so. "Hey." He finally answered, still looking at me in that way.
I giggled as the limo pulled out and sped away. "You look different, really smart." I mused as Luke pulled at his jacket. "This? Nah, its old. Found it in my mom's attic. Must have been my dads."
I breathed out a small laugh as Luke grabbed a champagne glass and a huge bottle from next to him. He poured a glass and held it out to me. I shook my head. "I don't drink." I stated simply, and Luke rolled his eyes.
"Bloody hell, its only a tiny little glass!" Luke grabbed my hand and curled my fingers around it, then leaned back triumphantly. I sighed and took a small sip. The bubbles popped in my mouth, but the taste was actually quite nice. Luke gave me an "I told you so" look when I went back for my second sip. I swallowed, pointing the glass at him as we turned the corner. "You have some explaining to do."
Luke raised an eyebrow, pouring himself a glass. "So have you." He fired back, taking a sip from his glass, not taking his eyes off me.
I frowned, confused. "You first." I insisted, then cleared my throat. "Where have you been all day?"
"Planning this." Luke held his arms in the air, gesturing to the limo. "This is my birthday present to you." He lowered his arms and rest them on his knees, chewing on his lip as he looked me over. "Happy Birthday." His voice was low and raspy as he said it. He meant to do it, because he knew I loved it. But I just shrugged. "Thanks." I answered shortly, then took another drink.
"Now you." He leaned forward, hands clasped in front of him. "When did you go and turn into an absolute stunner?"
I almost choked on the champagne. I brought my glass down and frowned at his smug expression. "What?"
"I mean yeah, you were really pretty before, but now..." He trailed off, actually looking into my eyes rather than anywhere else. "You look amazing."
I blushed furiously, covering my face with my glass as I said. "Thanks. You too."
Luke leaned back, his cheeks tinted red. We both sipped our champagne, and for a moment, it was silence. I placed my empty glass down and smoothed out my dress. "So, where are we actually going?"
