This poem is about having the courage to defy the norm and follow justice. Whether that means to stand up for your political beliefs by protesting or to finally put you hair in an afro despite the haters I hope this poem empowers you to have the strength to do what's right whether for you as a person or for this world as one who is apart of the human race. 😘😘
Also if the spacing comes out weird on the device you are viewing this poem on, I deeply apologize. I have been trying all week to fix it and it won't budge so I have deiced to post the poem anyways.
Basic, regular, nothing too nice
Teacher claiming he rolled the dice
Well if that's the case why was I asleep
Tell me why the economic gap is so deep
Tell me why I should have hope
With no answers we need ways to cope
The truth is the working poor is real
And I know it may not seem to be a big deal...
People are people and have souls that feel
Hearts that bleed with injustice
Minds desperately needing to heal
What can we do, a young girl asks?
What will you do, divide your tasks??
She knew others would call her wrong
for following the calling of her heart,
Friendships and relationships falling apart
Yet, somehow through the pain
Proudness erupt, a justified rebel had formed
Choosing to defy the lies,
While others remained so misinformed
Breaking down the walls between truth and false
No longer disregarding injustice or living ignorantly
She stood
under the flame of truth
Her power emerging like a fountain of youth
A new dawning was coming
Yearning to be led by those who know their worth
Not self-centered but concerned about our Earth
For when you discover the ugly truths,
Will you sweep them under a rug to protect your power, or
Pretend to fight and instead just cower?
Will you be the one to lead the movement,
using all resources and attempting self-improvement
Are you willing to die to shine light on these lies?
~ Have you ever missed a high five?
Personally, all the flipping time.
