{96} Bacteria

It should have been me and you,

you and me

a team;

a team of two

us in this together.

It could have been me and you

running the world and letting it burn

but you held your pride like you should have held me.

You loved your past and gave it free space

in your mind, in your heart, in your brain

Run me away,

cat and mouse a chase,

it seemed it was all a game

yet here was a ghost kicking and crawling,

flying on your coat tails.

It was him in your soul that held us back in the end,

the love was never a problem;

love endless like the sun-kissed bacteria kissing your sweet skin

your smile blooming like yellow daises when you saw the ice cream on my chin

you anger would come and go, a touch of reassurance needed

It was him, crawling and kicking who refused to let you go that haunts you.

Your pride a demon you would not tackle

till it got you

till it got us

and it was too late.

I would like to shout out the dude on Whisper who gave me the line "but you held your pride like you should have held me" that inspired this poem! Further inspiration for this poem was taken from the show Scandal! I think I talk about it a lot lol but it really is a good show. It's my absolute favorite show! With Netflix recently deciding to remove it, I have been rewatching the show again. I do highly recommend Scandal to you all! You should all watch it since you have the time lol!

I feel like there's a separation in this poem, one like no other and so I decided to break it into two stanzas. I know it may feel off but since I kind of jumped around in time it seemed fitting.

~ Have you ever made yourself cry intentionally?

I just did it two hours ago lol and I think it helps me because I NEVER cry out of sadness and sometimes I feel like I have to just to say at least I got it out.

Stay safe,

D.O.
