* this is an imitation writing based on the first chapter of Charles Dickens' book A Tale of Two Cities.

It was the age of knowledge, it was the age of ignorance, it was the time of joy, it was the time of deep agony, it was the season for victory, it was the season for many defeats, it was the time of corruption and yet somehow it was the epoch of honesty. It was a cry for ethics, a basic decency employed by every human, it was an exaltation of corporal greed and extortion, it was the awakening and the suppression of rationale. It was an era of lies, an era of truths overshadowed by bias, it was peace between the extremely rich and their bribed politicians, it was a rebellion of those oppressed whose voices had long been hushed behind the powerful men that rose. It was an era of distrust, a lack of support behind our disconnected ignorant leaders and an era of trust, trust in those who promised a better future, a future for you and me. It was a fire, burning our hearts with motivation, it was a flood, washing away the morals and virtues we engraved into our stolen land. We had everything to hope for, and nothing to look forward to - in short, we were all rotten apples, concerned of not when but where we would fall.

I wrote this for an English assignment but I thought as it was based on what occurred in the U.S.A in September of 2018, I would share it. If you want more of these short writings or if you want me to only publish poems, let me know your thoughts, comments and opinions.

~ Have you ever been truly proud of an essay you wrote in school whether college, secondary school or for a scholarship??

Well I hope you have!!!

Wishing you confidence and hope,
