Today's poem is in memory of Congressman John Lewis as Invictus by William Ernest Henley was his favorite poem. May his soul rest in peace and may his work inspire us to create good trouble!

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
B

lack as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

When I remembered that today was Thursday, I realized I wanted to write something new to post. The funeral of Congressman John Lewis may his soul rest in peace was on the television and with eveything going on in my life, I felt like I should write. I wrote this beautiful piece called "Our Summer : My Truth" and it basically summed up my entire life and gave meaning to this book. I could post it next week or when I finally finish this book, that could be my last chapter. I think the book would come full circle for the last chapter to share the name of the title but I fear that when I am finally ready to finish this book, I won't agree with the emotions in my writing and so I won't post it. Let me know if you have any opinions on when I should post it!!

~ Have you ever felt the need to write? Like there are things you need to write out and say?

I hope you all are safe and in the best of health ❤
