I wrote this poem to read out loud at an open mic with the theme Decomposition. Thank you to Kelli and everyone who made the environment calm and supportive. I had a wonderful time and I hope you enjoy this poem. Human Hands...

If the Earth beneath your feet, beneath

the steady hum and pace of the street crumbled in frustration, desperate for your consideration :

Would you listen?

If the walls could cave in and

whisper, the kindest of words, words

of motivation and support :

Would you listen?

If the waves that ricochet, tumble

and bellow into the shore ; rose

up and shook the Earth with

words of anger and concern ;

Would you listen?

If the mountains could rise any higher

to tell you the tales of endless suffering and loneliness

tales of inquisitive humans and hankering animals

always on the lookout for food ;

Would you listen?

If the stars fell from the sky,

enormous exploding balls of gas bypassing our atmosphere to tell you the truth

the truth about the unforgiving destruction done by human hands ;

Would you listen?

Under which circumstances,

would you open your eyes and come

to realize the beauty that is our Earth? Under what circumstances would you

open your ears to listen and hear the splashing of melting ice?

Under what circumstances,

would you open your heart and learn to do your part, beginning to share all that is here

in the name of benefiting our Earth?

Yes. And Tetley is the best.
