Happy New Year!!
Welcome to 2020!!! I hope you all have a splendid year filled with growth amd memorable moments.

I think in the last update I said that I would post my next poem on the first of January. However as we all know sometimes our new years plans don't go as planned and we get a tad carried away. With that being said I know somethings are going down in the world that are not what we wished for in the new year but I hope we all continue wishing, hoping and praying for peace. ❤

I don't know why
I'm walking out here
with a heavy heart desperate to hear, to hear the sounds of
your voice.
It's a new year or so I tell myself
but I don't care.
Today and everyday
I want to resolve nothing.
I want to bask in your endless love
until my skin
crimples and wrinkles; tired of the
cool wet water.
I want to breathe in the clouds
that sink and hover and hold me
hostage as the new year comes
through.
But some days I
only want to walk a little
longer in the cold blessing of
the rain, and lift my face to it.
New year I tell myself,
Same quotes, same story.

This poem was an imitation of the poem "i am running into a new year" by Lucille Clifton. It can be found in her book Good Women: Poems and A Memoir 1969 - 1980. I know we all might not be interested in googling all that so I'll insert the poem down below.

i am running into a new year
and the old years blow back
like a wind
that i catch in my hair
like strong fingers like
all my old promises and
it will be hard to let go
of what I said to myself
about myself
when i was sixteen
and twentysix and thirtysix
even thirtysix but
i am running into a new year
and i beg what i love and
i leave to forgive me

I know this might be all too sad but I promise we have a whole year for me to adopt a happier writing style. If you have any suggestions, always know you can tell me. ❤

~ Have you set New Year's resolutions?

If so, what are they?

With joy
