       LAILA'S POV

His voice was deep and soothing, his clear tone washing over the crowd in mesmerizing waves. The thing is, Vicky never took his eyes off me while he sang. For a moment, I felt special and I forgot about my problems.

Once he was done, everyone stood up and gave him a standing ovation. I still couldn't believe it, so when we stepped outside, naturally I had a pile of questions for him. He led me away near the pool and we sat on the chairs under the umbrella.

He pulled out my chair for me to seat on and then he sat beside me. I looked at him and smiled.

"Thank you,” I said as he rested his chin on his hands and winked at me.

"Anything for you, Princess.” He smiled again and I leaned back to the chair.

I never realized how his face lit up when he smiled like that.

" Why didn't you say anything about this?", my mind murmured and I shut it off, keeping off any distraction.

Before I even started talking, he cleared his throat and began to speak, still smiling.

“I never told you about my singing because we never had a chance to talk and get to know each other. I've been singing around here for as long as I can remember and it’s been pretty much great.”

Vicky folded his hands over mine, sending chills down my back. He studied my face, looking deep into my eyes as he continued.

"But tonight, singing with you here felt so different. I felt special when I saw you smiling, enjoying yourself. It just felt so good, Letty. I can’t even describe what I felt around you."

He sighed deeply and I wanted to tell him how special he made me feel. Nobody ever did that for me.

"So tell me, did you enjoy yourself?" Vicky asked, stroking his hair back. His eyes bore deep into mine, their puppy-like expression filled with hope and something else.
Did he even have to ask? It was breathtaking, mind-blowing, and I don’t even think I blinked the entire time, I was so absorbed in his performance.

"As a matter of fact, I really hate those audiences, they woke me up from this dream... I…”

Vicky’s eyes and mouth were wide open when I looked up. Before I knew what was going on, he started laughing. His whole being vibrated, and his voice was deep and husky. I could listen to him laugh all day.

"I really loved listening to this cute guy singing. His angelic voice just took me to a whole new world that I wanted to live in forever.”
He smiled at my words, placing an index finger on his cheek as if he were deep in thought.

"Oh, really? I am totally jealous! So, would you mind to tell me whose this guy is?"

A waiter distracted us when he stopped in front of our table, a large silver tray balanced carefully on his fingertips. I glanced at Vicky, who winked at me before turning to the waiter.

"Hello Sam,” the waiter nodded, then smiled at Vicky before placing a bottle of champagne and two tall glasses on the table.

Things were just happening so fast and I didn't know what to say. Vicky, he just made me feel something I hadn’t experienced in a long time…

He made me feel alive.

"After we arrived, I thought maybe we could have dinner afterwards so I just ordered in. I didn't know what you liked so...", he paused before he proceeded.

"I asked them to make something special." He raised his chin towards me.

"I hope you like it.”

Of course I'll enjoy myself! But, Vicky did all that for me? It was...

He poured the sparkling drink in the glasses, smiling.

What was with this guy, smiling all the time?

We continued talking while enjoying our drinks. He told me about his singing and the many times he had performed in different hotels. From what I learned about him, he had a passion for music but his dad didn't approve of it, so he had to pursue his procurement course.

Afterwards, he drove me back home and reality hit me back like a punch. My sister had texted me that they had already gone home. I had to be strong for my sister, I couldn't allow her to see me hurt. She needed someone of sound mind to be with, and I would be that person.

Vicky really helped me forget about my pain for a moment but I had to get back to reality. I arrived home pretty late.

Vicky opened the door for me, smiling as usual, and I thanked him for giving me the best time I’ve had in a while.

I didn't talk about my sister or anything around him, as I didn't want to worry him with all my problems. I had a nice time that made me forget about all my troubles.

"So," he held my hands and looked into my eyes.
"We should try this some other time?" he inquired, and I responded by vigorously nodding my head. He laughed out loud and kissed my forehead.

"I'll see you in school on Monday then.”

"Thank you so much Vicky. You saved my life. I really, really had a nice time."

I smiled up at him, and he returned the gesture. He studied my face, and his brows creased into a frown. He must’ve seen something in my eyes, because Vicky’s expression of pure bliss morphed into one of concern.

“I am so sorry for what you're going through. If you need a friend, I'll be here for you. Anytime. Don't hesitate to call me. Really.” He emphasized the last word. All I did was nod because I didn't know what else to say.

"Thank you so much, for everything you did today. Um, goodnight then?”

I don’t know what happened then, but all of a sudden my arms were wrapped around Vicky. He looked surprised at my sudden display of affection, and he froze. A split-second later, a lazy grin spread across his face and he returned my embrace, squeezing me tightly towards his chest. The side of my head was pressed into his outlined chest, and I could hear his heart beating nearly as fast as mine.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a light turn on inside my house. I quickly forced myself away from Vicky, wished him goodnight, and waited until he was gone before turning around to face my house.
