Laila's POV

One woman came in followed by a young guy, around my age. He looked familiar but I couldn't trace where I had seen him. The doctor was behind them and the woman couldn't stop crying. She looked more like Jackie. More like...

"Mum, can you please stop crying. You always make every situation look worse", she said  and confirmed my thoughts. I stood up allowing her to come close to her daughter. The guy had bloodshot eyes and I could tell he had been crying.

" she doesn't have enough energy to talk. You'd have listened to me when I told you we admit her immediately. The chances of her survival are very low and we should strive to save all that energy ", the doctor said and her mum cried aloud.

" how could we when she literally refused. Ain't there something else you can do apart from the second option coz we don't have that amount of money, doctor ",

" mum, can you please stop it. I already accepted my fate when I refused to be admitted. Doctor please, I need to talk to him before you do all that shit to me, please", the doctor shook his head but she was stubborn. I also wanted to tell her it was okay but why'd she call me if whatever she was about to tell me wasn't important.

"But Jackie you can't", her mother tried to protest but Jackie stopped her.

"It won't take long. I promise", he agreed with her and they all left the room, leaving me all alone with her. I sat next to her to listen to what she had to say. She breathed heavily before turning to me.

" i have brain turmor Hellzel. I kept it a secret to my sister and my mum also didn't know until lately the doctor called her privately in his office. He had told me but I asked him not to tell anyone as...", she breathed again and I reached to help her sleep comfortably.

"My sister is worried about me and knowing my mum is taking money from Don in the name of my sickness, and then forcing her to do some stupid surgery, it didn't seem right. I didn't want to get anything at the expense of my sister's happiness", she paused again and I could tell she was in pain.

" Hellzel, Lay doesn't know about all this and it will break her heart to know I kept it all a secret. But I saw how she looked at you the other day. She was happy. Don will make sure he makes her life miserable, please promise me you'll take care of her, please", I could see she was fighting tears but one escaped. This was girl was acting strong but deep down, she was in pain.

"But she won't talk to me. I hurt her so badly. I don't think she'll ever forgive me", she looked away.

I didn't know that's how much Lay had gone through. And her sister was lying in bed, almost dying to make her happy when the only thing I did was to make her cry.

" Hellzel, listen to me, I don't know you that much, but I sure as he know you care for her. If otherwise, She'd never trust enough to leave her sister to live with you.", she placed a hand on her head shutting her eyes hard. I wanted to tell her to shut up but she continued,

"I could still be at home right now teasing my mum if it were not for that stupid Tania", I sat upright when I heard Tania's name. What the hell had she done this time? If she was the reason why Jackie was in bed I'd kill her.

" I bit the crap out of her when she came laughing at my place telling me she managed to break anything that was forming between you and my sister. I know right now you think my sister is your sister. That's what she wants you to believe... She..", she shut her eyes again this time moaning in pain.

"Please Jackie you have to rest first", I said and she shook her head.

" Tania gave Lay that chain", I just couldn't believe what she was talking about. I tried to contain everything all in when I held the sheets hard pulling the bed towards me.

"What?" Was all I managed to say. For what reason would she do that? I must find out myself.
