Laila's POV

We walked straight to the kitchen after spending an hour Vicky explaining his reasons for going to that place. His cousin also called Hellboy, had sent him there to take me out for dinner coz as Vicky told me that he was held up somewhere. According to Vicky's tone, it seemed to be serious and so I decided to let go.

I had to come out clean with him and explained to him how I ended up in Hellboy's place. And also told him how Tania had a conversion with him over someone anonymous.
"Why do you tell me not to trust Tania anyway. She's been nothing but good to me in the past weeks. She's also been good to my sister last time I was at home."
"Just do what I tell you Laila and stop asking many questions", he said then stood up and started preparing dinner. I never found anything suspicious with her as she was always good towards me. But I felt I should trust Vicky more.
My phone beeped at the counter and I glanced at the screen my mouth fell agape when I saw the caller ID.
" its my mum", I said before covering my mouth with my hands. He sauntered towards me checking at my phone with a smile on his face
"I told you. You should go home and confirm if your mum did mean what she said", he said as the call ended. I picked the phone determined to call her back. But a second thought crept my mind and instead I texted Tania.
Me: my mum just called. I think I'll go home and check out if she's forgiven me. I click send and stare at Vicky as he struggles to cut the onions with really welling up his eyes with tears.
My phone vibrates and I pick it up.
Tania: how?
Another text follows in.
Tania: I mean didn't she tell you she didn't want anything to do with you?
My mind still scattered wondering how she had known about my fight and my mum's.
" who told her my mum and I had a fight?", I asked loudly clearly not intending to when Vicky turned to me with a surprised face.
"Did you just text her even after...", I silence him clearly not getting the point. He sits at the next stool and faces me.
" that's not the point Vicky. How did she know I'm not in good terms with my mum. And surprisingly, she already met with my boyfriend Don..", I saw him flinch but I still continued.
"She knows we've broken up. Unless someone is feeding her with information. Do you think it maybe Jackie?", he shook his head no.
" I'm not good with assumptions, but you should definitely go home and find out.
I sat back reliving how my mum used to pressure me about the surgery. Was I ready to go to all that and do what Don wants? I was happy he wasn't pestering me anymore, but I wondered how long it could take till he found where I was staying. Perhaps he was with some chick keeping him busy. One with all the perfect features.
"I don't think I'm ready to go back there..", I said and Vicky looked at me. As much I wanted to go home to Jackie I wasn't ready for the life I was living back.
Although I wasn't as comfortable living with Zell, his place was better off. He wasn't pressuring me about anything. Surgery. About who to love. And who I should be.
He placed his hand over the on the counter and looked me in the eye.
" don't worry about it Lay. If you need help with anything, I'm here for you, okay?", I shook my head and a tear fell on the counter. He reached over and wiped it off and my mouth curving upwards to form a smile.
"You still haven't told me what happened back at home. You only told me how you ended up here", his jaw clenched hard and I smiled.
" and you haven't told me why you always look different while in school and outside. I mean if I don't know you, I'd think you're two different guys", he scratched the back of his neck adding salt to the already boiling mix he's preparing. The aroma drowed into my nose and my stomach grumbled.
"I like keeping a low profile in school compound. I don't like all the attention that guys get because of the way they look", he said and I chocked on a laughter. What a ridiculous reason.
" that's ridiculous Vicky. I've never seen a lady loving a guy just because of his appearance. What if you find you don't like him after all?", we both fell into laughter.
"Lay, this things always happen. How many guys have you even dated?", he asked and I pursed my lips together realising I wasn't even aware of how love forms. Did I really love Don or was it because my mum chose him and said I should love him?
" well, now that you remind me I think I have no idea about that. So far I've dated one guy and I don't really know if I really did love him", he put off the gas finally food was ready. My stomach couldn't stop grumbling and somehow I thought Vicky could hear my intestine screaming.
"What's the point of dating someone you don't even love? The whole point of dating is to give and experience love, if I'm not wrong", he said like he was unsure of what he was saying. Looking at him serve the food made me think of something.
" how many girls have you dated before anyway? ", I asked as a matter of factly. Vicky was a good guy and it wouldn't have found me by surprise if he was actually dating someone. I pushed the thought backwards not liking it a bit. I wouldn't want anyone to feel like I was competing for Vicky with them.
" non so far. Actually that's why my cousin is always picking on me. He thinks I'll never marry because according to him, no girl shows interest in me", he sighed deeply and I knew how exactly he was feeling. I wondered if that's why Hellboy had picked on him on the first day I sat beside Vicky that day.
"That's not true. I think you are a charming and good person. Any girl would want to date you. I mean I'd if I was not...", he looked up towards me smirking.
" if what Lay? I don't think there's anything holding you back right now. You said you broke up with your boyfriend and obviously I don't think you're into my cousin ", he breathed deeply his chest rising rapidly and continued.
" if you don't mind Lay, would you like to go out with me?", he asked locking eyes and  stood there like a dumb person trying to register on my mind what he said.
