A/N: Hello good people. Am sorry for the late updates. I'm having my exams this week so I'd like you to bear with me.
LAILA'S POV
"What do you think you're doing?" he asked, his hand still on mine.
"Just leave me alone, Hellzel! I need to knock some sense into these bitches. Do you even know what they did?"
He looked over at the three girls, Regina still splayed on the floor. Then, he turned his attention back to me."I don't know what they did and frankly, I don't care. Do you realize what you're doing?"
I turned away from him. He was being a pain in the ass, as always."Who are you to tell me what to do? Why can't you mind your own business?” I turned to Regina with rage.
"And you... Don’t even get me started on how atrocious your actions were!”
"All of you, you'll pay for what you did...", I threatened loudly. That’s when I notice everyone in the small dinner was staring at me, their eyes wide. Even the waiter’s expression was completely panicked, and I wondered for a second if I ruined Jackie’s chances with him.
Shoving that thought out of my head, I glanced at Hellzel, then ran outside. I'd explain to Tania later why I didn't wait for her. I already had enough from my “boyfriend”, and I couldn't stand anyone making fun of my situation any further. Is this still my predicament? I can barely feel anything anymore. I just hope that this girl’s life gets better from here on.
Could I stand all that? Could I even be able to face the public?
"Laila, stop". I heard Hellzel call out from behind me but I increased my speed. The roads were going by in a blur now, just like the thoughts in my head.
"Laila. Please listen to me,” he pleaded, but I still ignored him. What was there for him to tell me anyways? How stupid I reacted back in the dinner?
No way was I going to listen to yet another lecture on my faults.
Before I reached the corner ahead, I stubbled my foot on a rather large stone. I stumbled and fell, my handbag’s contents spilling all over the ground. I tried several times to pull myself up, from the ground, but all my attempts failed."Laila, are you okay?" Hellzel asked as he extended a hand down to help me.
Before his hand could touch my toxic skin, I jerked away. As much as I hated him there was no need to drag Hellzel into my problems.
"Why can't you leave me alone? You keep following me like a shadow. Go away!”
I saw his eyebrows curve upwards in surprise. He stood up straight, giving up on his futile attempts to help me up."Sorry that my compassion isn't enough to convince you to help you. Well, I can see you're holding up just fine". He glanced over his shoulder while brushing his hands through his dreads.
"I should mind my own business. Well, see you. Oh, and have a nice time crawling on the ground!” Hellzel then turned around and started heading back at the parking lot.
I tried pulling myself back up but failed in every attempt. It wasn’t until my seventh attempt that I realized I hurt my leg. Peering down, I realized that the skin on my knee had been scraped off, revealing pinkish skin and blood.
I managed to shift myself into a seated position so I could check out my injury. Grains of sand and small stones were embedded in the wound, mixing with the viscous red liquid dripping onto the ground.
This was worse than I thought.
I glanced back at Hellzel, who was about to board black Mercedes. Swallowing my pride, I decided to call him back for help."You're so insensitive. How can your conscious bear to leave me here, bleeding on the sidewalk?" I shouted and he turned back, his lips turned upwards in a sly smirk.
"Well, I am just minding my own business. Isn't that what you should be doing as well? Pulling yourself up from the ground?"Hellzel then Bateman to chuckle, and I decided to slap his face if he came anywhere near me.
"Just cut me some slack and help me get up. It’s not like I need you that much. You might as well go,” I concluded. There was no way I'd allow him to feel like he was helping me in any way. I could do that myself, right?
"Wow! Looks like someone is full of themselves. Can't you just accept the fact that you need my help? I mean, it’s not that hard. In fact, a lot of the girls back at school would be begging me to help them".
“Go on, day the magic words. I’m waiting,” Hellzel prompted, a mocking tone evident in his voice.
He was beginning to really tick me off. I didn’t need him and his arrogance. My walking didn't depend on him.
"If you're not going to do it, then leave,”I spat out angrily and he started walking back to his car. He entered and started the engine.
Was he really going to leave me here again? Alone?
"Hellzel!" I shouted his name loudly and he pretended not to hear me. He gripped the door and was about to close it when I called out his name a second time.
"Hellzel,” I took a deep breath before continuing. “Please?” I asked quietly, my voice cracking as a tear escaped my eye. I brushed it off before he could see.
He walked back to where I sat and squatted before me, looking right into my eyes.
"Please, Hellzel, help me. Help me. I really need your help. Please?” Hellzel stated as if he was begging and pleading for his life.
"Repeat what I said, word for word. Oh, and I really want to feel the emotions pouring from your mouth." Hellzel put his hands on his hips and I sneered up at him despite my earlier tears. I'd never say that to him, or to any guy.
Never.
He stood up and chuckled, then strolled away casually without turning back. I was afraid he wouldn't come this time.
"Come on. Do I really have to say all that? Can't you just..", I began, but before I could complete my sentence he cut me.
"Yes, you have to say it. Go on, or else when I enter that car, I won't come back".
"Never. I will never lick your ass!” I shouted and he chuckled again, this time walking back to his car. He entered and closed the door, ignited the engine and drove off towards the main gate.
How dare he leave me? How could he? Who does he think he is?“Wait… Please don’t go.”
