27: Kitten's Death

Mouse's P.O.V

"Kitten . . . . I thought you said you loved me." Dragon mumbled. My eyes widened at his statement. He was sad at first, but then I noticed that his heart-rate picking up. I'm not sure what he was seeing, but he was seeing something that wasn't there. It made it worse that I was one of the only ones that knew that the poison came from Snake. 

Kitten lifted her head and pushed Snake off of her and stood up quickly. Her top has been ripped showing off the majority of her cleavage. Dragon noticed this the moment she stood. Despite her trying to explain, he didn't seem to get it. All he cared about was that Kitten was on the floor and Snake was on top of her. 

"Dragon. This isn't what it looks like. Snake . . . He. . . . umm." Natsu looked from Kitten to Snake, but not to me. He barely even noticed that I was in there. He looked more confused than anything. Like he was just trying to understand this. 

"You lied to me. You said you loved me." he mumbled again. I stood up as Snake took a step towards Dragon. I took a step in front of him just to keep from another fight breaking out. I just hoped that Dragon could beat the poison, but it was a sad wish. 

"I do Dragon. I do love you." Kitten whispered taking a few steps towards Natsu. He looked at her ripped shirt and then back to Snake who just starred. He just stood there with me keeping him back. Natsu shook his head not wanting to believe it. 

"You said you loved me . . . and I loved you back." he mumbled again. At this point, he wasn't listening to reason. He was so confused that he wasn't going to listen to anything. Kitten to a deep breath and grabbed Dragon's hands. She squeezed them digging her nails into the skin to keep his attention. 

"Dragon. Calm down." she told him. He shook his head tears in his eyes. The salty tears flooded down from his eyes as she held his hands. She stared at Dragon with soft round eyes. It took awhile for everyone to actually say something. 

"I loved you back . . . and look what you did." Dragon whispered. 

"Please Dragon. Stop it." Kitten said squeezing harder on his hands. At this point, I thought that Dragon had finally broken. I thought that he finally went insane after all the beatings. The only thing that has kept Dragon from losing it was Kitten's love, and now he thinks she didn't care about any of it. Which was a lie. At this point Dragon was visibly shaking.

"You said you loved me. . . I loved you back . . .you did this. . . .you liar. . . . you . . . liar. . . Liar. . . . LIAR!" Dragon let go of her hands and tackled her to the ground. I squeaked and ran to try to get Dragon off of her, this time it was more important. Dragon was being very aggressive. He was scratching and punching. She tried to push him off screaming. 

"Dragon! Please stop! I love you! No one else!" Kitten screamed. At least until her screams was replaced with the gurgle of blood. Before anyone could stop him, Dragon placed a large bite of Kitten's neck. He pulled away taking out a large chunk of her throat. I screamed in horror before Snake ran up biting Dragon and injecting him with the antidote to the poison.

The antidote worked quickly. Natsu shook his head trying to clear it all away. His nostrils flared as he knew what happened. He could taste it in his mouth. Kitten's blood was all over his teeth and down his chest. He looked at Kitten in front of him who was gurgling and trying to hold on to her last bit of life. The bite was to deep. She was going to die. Tears ran down his face as he felt her chest. She was breathing but barely. 

"Kitten! I . . . . I'm sorry!" he screamed trying to cover the wound to stop the bleeding. I knew fully well that it wasn't going to work that way. Maybe in the leg or arm, but not in the neck. I could see him shaking when he learned this. He knew it himself. 

"Dragon. Don't cry please." Kitten whispered. Dragon looked down to her and shook his head. He knew fully well that his attempts weren't going to work. He just didn't want to give up and say that he just murdered the person he loved.

"This is all my fault!" Dragon screamed. I didn't know what to do? Should I help, or should I just let him mourn over what he just did. At least he's still not assaulting her barely alive form. It's just sad to watch this at this point. 

"Don't say that. I don't blame you Dragon." Kitten said. She was coughing up blood. Even on her deathbed Kitten can help others. Letting Dragon know that she doesn't blame him is something that really would help his mental state. Within reason. 

"But -" Natsu started. 

"Hush. . . Just follow the stars Dragon. Follow the stars." That was the last thing she said before he body went still. I never thought that a death would happen this fast. She was just talking, then she just died. Tears dripped from Dragon's eyes as he tried to keep her alive, but her vacant stare told me everything.

"Kitten! Don't go! Please!" he screamed. The blood on his hands smeared as he cupped Kitten's face in his hands. For a minute that was all that happened. He sat there crying and holding Kitten's dead body in his arms. Dragon didn't even aknowledge Snake or me still sitting in the background. The whole thing was about the two of them."Please. . . . I can't live without you Kitten. . . . Please . . . . Please come back to me."
