10: Happy

Lucy's P.O.V 

It's been three days since Porlyusica checked Natsu over. He hasn't left the infirmary just yet, but today he will. His pills have began to kick in. So far he acts mostly human until he gets scared and he remember names of people. A lot of his memories still stop there but today we are having everyone introduce themselves to Natsu. 

Makarov kind of set it up. Every who had a close or side connection with Natsu would introduce themselves and would tell Natsu how they knew each other. That way he has no confusion over who is who. I suppose we could always just show him drawings and have me explain it all to him ahead of time but I suppose that Master wants him to meet them face to face. 

I walked outside of the room with Natsu walking next to me on two feet. He looked almost human at this point but he was frightened to leave. He held onto the rim of the door telling me he wants to stay. I held his hand pulling him out of the room and into the guild hall. The moment that we entered everyone was already in a line. More or less. Happy was the first to start just to be fair. Then it went on. After everything was done I sat down at the bar with Natsu next to me. 

"Hey Lucy?" Natsu asked breaking the silence."I don't understand something do you think you can answer a quick question?" His face was serious. He wasn't scared, but he wasn't calm either. A small sign of distress hinted at his true emotions. 

"Huh? Yeah I guess. What is it Natsu?" I replied. 

"Who's Igneel?" he asked. "It's like it's shouting at me to remember, but I didn't meet anyone with that name in the guild." 

"No. He's not in the guild." I told him. 

"Then who is he?" Natsu pressed on. 

"He's your father I suppose. It's a big red fire breathing dragon that raised you." I told him. He slumped on the counter. I don't think he was dissapointed in the news. I think maybe he's just a little tired of not remembering anything. He seems pretty settle that now about the idea of knowing everyone here. "You seem a little down today Natsu." 

"Everyone. They look at me with sadness. It's a really depressing atmosphere." he pointed out. 

"Everyone looked happy when they were talking to you." I know what he was talking about. Even though everyone smiled when they introduced themselves I could also see that they were all sad on the inside. Just having to explain how they know someone is a little bit of a depressing situation. I feel bad. Natsu could even see passed it all. 

"Well, they tried to be as happy as they could. I guess it's hard to be truly happy when your trying to tell someone just how you know each other, huh." he sighed. "but I can smell just how everyone is feeling." 

"You can smell emotions? Since when?" I asked. Natsu looked over to me and then looked back down to the counter. 

"I'm not sure. From before I came back at least." 

"Well. That's an interesting thought. I wish I had that super power." I suppose I was trying to lighten the mood a little, but it had the opposite intention of what I was thinking. My intention was to at least make him smile but instead he head his head in his hand and held it on the countertop watching people fight it out behind us. 

"Not when your in a crowd and can smell everyone individually." he said sadly. 

"Overwhelming hm." I stated. 

"I suppose, but there isn't exactly much I could do for it." he pointed out. 

"Yeah." then an idea popped into my head. I knew what could cheer him up. A job. Wait, can Natsu still even use magic. I mean, I wouldn't take him on a job that was to difficult simply for the purpose of having him heal, but I think it would be good for him. I think I might consult Makarov on it, but I think Natsu will feel a whole lot better after doing something. 

"Natsu." Natsu turned around looking at Happy. The little cat stood on the floor behind Natsu with a fish in his hand. "Ummm. I wanted to give this to you." Natsu swished around in his chair to face the cat with all of his attention. Natsu paused for a moment trying to think of a proper answer. 

"Hey. Sorry but I - What was your name again?" Natsu scratched his head trying to think of an answer. I decided it would be best for me to but in here. I guess I forgot to take into account that it is nearly impossible to remember every single name that is told to you. 

"Natsu. That's Happy. The cat you raised from an egg." I told him. 

"Oh yeah. Sorry. I'm -" 

"Don't worry about it Natsu. Happy understands that your trying your best." I encouraged. Natsu nodded and then took the fish with a forced smile. Happy was trying to fight back tears as Natsu placed the fish on the counter and Natsu was just trying to keep it as simple as possible. He doesn't want this to be any more awkward than it has to be.

"Happy. I was thinking that maybe soon we could take Natsu on a little job." I told his trying to break the silence. I wasn't exactly sure what good it would do but your get the point. I was just trying to make Happy happy again. 

"REALLY!" the cat exclaimed. 

"Only is Master agrees, but yes." I said with a small smile. 

"Wait can you still use magic Natsu?" Happy asked. Natsu's eyes widened on the spot and he looked down. His whole body began to shake as he tried to calm himself down. His eyes closed as he took shaky breaths. 

"Natsu. Calm down." I said. 

"Sorry Natsu. I didn't mean -" Happy started but was cut off. 

"No. It's not your fault. It's just. . . . I was told to never use magic unless ordered too. That was one of the main rules of the guild. He didn't order us very often but he still allowed, or ordered, into the rule so we wouldn't lose the ability of magic." Natsu laid his chin on his arm laying down on the counter. "If we did use our magic against the master's wishes you would regret it." 

"How would you regret it?" Happy asked. Natsu looked over to Happy and then looked to the scars over his guild mark. The two long slashes that could not be healed, but they have faded. 

"Most of it is foggy, but I remember that I got these scars for that very reason."
