17 days later
I had been hiding out in my hotel room for almost a week. I got up and decided that it was time to go and see my brothers and see if they had any information on what was going on. I put on my coat and grabbed my car keys.
As I pulled up to the boarding house I took a shaky breath, reconsidering if this was a good idea. I shook the thought out of my head and parked my car. I got out and shook my hands out. I don't know why I'm so nervous, they're my brothers, it can't be that bad.
I stood outside the boarding house, the large looming door causing me to feel even smaller than I am. I hesitated as I raised my fist to knock on the door. I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath, before knocking once, twice, three times. I then turned to look at the front porch, taking in the sights, the green grass with the morning dew was lingering on the blades, catching the sunlight. I heard the door open behind me and so I spun around to see Damon in the doorway.
"Can I help you?" He asked, crossing his arms and taking a step outside.
"Damon Salvatore, it's good to see you again," I replied with a smirk, "brother."
Damon's stern look faltered for a brief moment before rushing over and pinning me against the wall, holding my neck against it with his forearm.
"What kind of sick joke are you playing?" His eyes blazing. "Did Klaus send you?"
"K-Klaus is here?" I managed to squeak out as I was struggling. Damon is a few inches taller than me, so he was able to lift me off the ground and still have me at eye level.
"Answer my questions!" He practically yelled.
"Damon, you're hurting me." I pawed at his arm in an attempt to get him to let go.
"How do you know my name?" He slammed me against the wall again.
"Because" I failed to get out above a mumble, "I'm your sister." This made Damon let go and take several steps back.
"Not possible." He looked at me dazed and shook his head. I reached up to my neck and swallowed a few times.
"Well, it's the truth."
"How? How is this possible?" Damon asked as we sat in the living room.
"It's complicated?" I replied as more of a question than an answer. I shook my head. "Y-" I cleared my throat, "you thought Klaus had sent me, he's not in town...is he?"
"As far as we can tell he is. And he's going to the high school, he got a message through to Elena during lunch." I felt my throat tighten and tears stinging my eyes.
"W-what was the message?" I asked clearing my throat again and letting my eyes flutter closed for a second.
"Something about saving him a dance at the decade dance." I took a shaky breath and nodded.
"So you and Stefan are both going, to make sure she'll be fine." He nodded as he poured himself a drink, silently asking if I wanted one, to which I nodded. He poured both drinks and came back to sit next to me, handing me my drink. "I'm going to," I stated.
"No, Klaus is dangerous, we can't-"
"Damon! I said I was going, and that's that. I can take care of myself." I noticed Stefan entering the room.
"Damon? What's going on?" He asked coming to stand in front of me.
"Stefan, it's just me. Cleona, your sister." I responded, hoping that another situation like what happened with Damon wouldn't happen again. He just walked away.
"Damon, where is Elijah?" Damon looked shocked that I knew the original. "Damon! Please, I have been trying to get a hold of him for a few weeks now. If you know where he is, please tell me." My voice got softer at the end. Damon nodded.
"Follow me." He led me down into the cellar and showed me a room. I looked through the door and saw Elijah's body on the ground, grey and veiny.
"Elijah." I once again felt tears stinging my eyes as I tried to get the door open. Damon stopped me. "Damon, please." I looked at him tears swelling in my eyes threatening to fall any second.
"How do I know we can trust you." My look turned from devastated into hurt.
"Damon, I'm your sister. How can you not trust me? You would rather me watch one of my closest friends suffer than let your precious Elena- No, let me wake my friend please."
"We can't trust you, you have been gone for so long," Stefan said from behind me.
"But I'm still your sister. Elijah was there for me, every day since I've been on the run. He would not hurt your Elena." I looked at my brothers.
"Elena will make that decision," Damon said closing the window slot and bringing me back up the stairs.
"I'd best go then, I have a dance to prepare for," I said coldly as we entered the living room. "I'm sorry you don't feel you can trust me. But I can't bear to watch my brothers keep me from waking my friend- no my family." I said grabbing my coat and leaving the boarding house. Like I said I had a dance to prepare for. And Klaus was going to regret coming back to Mystic Falls, or he was going to make me regret it.
That's 3 chapters all done! This story is coming along pretty well as far as ideas go. Cleona has now been reunited with her brothers, too bad they don't trust her. Next will probably be the dance. I'm sorry if I delay posting, I'm trying to stay a chapter ahead so that when I go on my Disney trip in the next month or so, I'll have stuff I can post without worrying. But yeah I hope you are all enjoying the story so far! Please let me know what you think of the story and if you have any story suggestions let me know and I'll do my best to respond in a timely matter <3 ~KJ
