I Don't Feel Like a Party

I sighed as I sat on the damp grass, looking out over the quarry. I stayed like that for awhile, every now and then wiping away a tear that fell, or clearing my throat. I just sat there, in the dark. After a long while I stood, gathering my jacket that I had used as a blanket to keep dry from the dew. I was about to leave when a text appeared on my phone.

Love, come to the dance tonight, we're celebrating.

I sighed as I read the text, a few tears falling from my eyes.

No offense Nik, but I don't really feel like celebrating. I think I'm just going to sleep tonight.

I gathered myself, wiping away tears before heading away from the quarry. As I got in my car I sighed, throwing my coat over to the passenger side seat. I checked my phone and sure enough Nik had texted back, attempting to entice me into going.

Please come, I promise you won't regret it. Just stop by for a few minutes?

Fine, a few minutes, but then I'm going home.

I turned the key in the ignition before hearing my phone chime.

Lockwood Mansion, love.

I pulled out of the gravel drive and drove to the boarding house to change. When I got to the boarding house I went to my room and grabbed a black off-the-shoulder bodycon dress. I changed and put on a pair of black strappy heels. To complete the look I did a blue eye look and nude lips before grabbing my black suede jacket and heading out the door.

I pulled up to the Lockwood mansion as a few people were leaving. They looked drunk. I turned off my car and stepped out, I looked at one of the hybrids and walked towards her.

"Where's my husband?" I asked, taking off my jacket and draping it over my forearm. She gestured inside and I rolled my eyes. "Thanks," I said before walking away, "so helpful," I whispered under my breath as I entered the mansion.

I didn't have to search very long before Nik found me. I had stopped to get a drink as I felt arms around my waist.

"Hello my love," I smiled as I turned around to see my husband.

"How are you holding up, love?" He asked, his eyes searching my face as my smile dropped.

"As well as can be expected I suppose." I set my cup down and linked arms with him. "You never did tell me what we are celebrating Nik." He led me outside where a large stage was set up.

"Wait here and you'll see." He smiled at me, lifting my hands and kissing the backs before hurrying up to the stage.

"What are you doing here?" I sighed as I turned to face my little brother standing behind me.

"What's it to you?" I crossed my arms over my chest.

"I thought Elena-"

"Vervained me? Yeah she almost did, I told her it wasn't very smart." Nik's voice filled the yard and I turned to face him.

"It was for your own good." I scoffed at my brother, shaking my head but not turning back around. "I'm serious Cleo." He placed a hand on my shoulder, turning me to face him again. "You may not see it, but we're trying to protect you."

"Protect me?" I shoved his hand off my shoulder. "You lost your chance to do that over a century ago." I poked his shoulder as clapping erupted around us. "Next time you want to 'protect' me, remember that." I turned to see Nik walking towards us. I held out my hand, which he took in his own as he came to stand next to me.

"Is there a problem, love?" He asked glancing between me and Stefan. I squeezed his hand and leaned towards his shoulder.

"Not anymore, lets go inside Nik, I'm bored." I said softly, knowing now would not be a good time to slip away, I knew my brothers were up to something, and whatever it was, I knew it wasn't good.

Short chapter, I know. I just didn't know how to write the rest, so I'll just write a reaction/aftermath for next chapter. Also sorry for being away for a while, I had to travel for a funeral so I didn't have a chance to post.~Kat
