"Listen Lijah, I know that you're just worried about me, but I think it's about time that I saw my brothers again." I replied talking to Elijah on my phone, shoving several articles of clothing into my suitcase.
"Cleona, how do you even know that they'll remember you?" Elijah responded as I brought in a smaller bag that had already been packed with blood bags.
"I don't, but I remember them. As far as they know I'm probably dead. But I want to see what they've done with their lives since I left." I sighed, brushing my dark auburn hair out of my eyes and taking the bag, setting it on the bed behind me. "Besides, you were the one who told me that they were alive."
"I didn't know you-" I cut him off.
"Lijah, please. They're my brothers, who I haven't seen in over a century. I'd like to get there soon. You've already been there almost two weeks." I sighed before picking up the bag and swinging it over my shoulder. I zipped up the suitcase and took it off the bed. "You're like my brother, I'd feel the same way if it were you who I hadn't seen. Don't worry so much. I can handle myself." I left the room, heading for the front door. When I paused to open the door I turned around to look at the apartment one last time. "I'll see you in a few days." I hung up as I left the small apartment and the apartment building.
I got in my car after putting the suitcase in the backseat. I tossed the small backpack into the passenger seat and put the key in the ignition. I started the car and put it in reverse, leaving the parking lot.
4 days later
I pulled into a parking spot in front of the Mystic Grill. After driving around for about fifteen minutes this had been one of the first places that looked like it could have been a hangout. I had already spotted a small motel not too far down the street. I got out of the car after fixing my hair. Walking into the bar I noticed several people sitting at the bar, but the busboy caught my attention, he looked like he was in high school. I decided to get a drink from the bar. I stopped in my tracks when I saw someone who looked a lot like a Damon, but a little older. As much as I was looking forward to seeing my brothers again, I figured that maybe seeing them right after I had driven for hours straight was not such a good idea.
I turned around and started towards the door. But before I got out of the door I heard Stefan's voice talking to someone. I tried to look casual as if I were waiting for someone and listened in.
"Who's that?" A higher pitched voice asked, I looked up and around to see a blonde looking at me but after pretending to scan the room I looked back at my phone.
"I don't know but she looks about our age." Another girl responded. I decided to move so that I could clearly see them, taking a seat at a table close to the door. I saw that the girl who was just talking had dark brown hair and was sitting pretty close to who I guessed was Stefan, he looked a lot like how I remembered him.
"Don't stare Elena, she might notice." The blonde said.
"Caroline, maybe you should go over and introduce yourself. If she's new, she probably doesn't know anyone." Elena replied, nudging the blonde. The blonde, Caroline, sighed and got up from her seat. She started my way and before I could come up with a good way to leave she was at my table.
"Hi, I'm Caroline." She said sliding into the seat across from me.
"Hi, I'm waiting for someone." I fibbed, hoping she would go away.
"Really? Because before you sat down you looked ready to leave." She crossed her arms on the table. "So what's your name?" I froze, if she was friends with Stefan, he might recognize my name. But I was the worst liar.
"I just go by Cleo," I said. "Who are your friends? They're watching us." As soon as I said that Stefan nudged Elena and they acted as if they were just a normal couple. I smirked.
"Oh, that's Stefan and Elena. We are waiting for our friend Bonnie." She replied so bubbly, it was almost too much. I just awkwardly smiled. I looked up and saw Damon getting up and heading for the exit. I put my arm up to block his view of my face, unfortunately, Caroline noticed this.
"You know Damon Salvatore?" I avoided eye contact with Stefan who was now looking over, and nodded.
"Yeah, we go way back." I said nonchalantly. "I haven't seen him in forever though."
"If you're such good friends, then why were you hiding from him?" She asked.
"I really should go, uh, meet up with my friend." I said standing up. "It was nice to meet you." I turned and started out the door.
"Yeah right back at you, maybe I'll see you around school." She went back to sitting with Stefan and Elena. I got in my car and headed to the motel for the night. The whole reason I didn't want to socialize was the fact that I'd run into people who went to the high school and then I'd have to go.
As I got to my room and opened the door I heard a noise behind me. I quickly turned around before getting into the room and closing my door. As I reached for the lights I heard another noise, except this time it was inside my room. I turned on the lights and didn't see anyone, I let out a sigh of relief and walked over towards the bed, leaving my suitcase by the door. As I plopped on the bed, dropping the now half empty bag the had held my blood supply, I heard someone moving.
"Hello?" I asked, hoping no one would answer in return.
"Cleo, erm, hi." I knew that voice, it was Caroline.
"You," I sat up and looked over at her. "Stefan sent you, right?" She stepped out of the dark shadows completely and sat on the chair in the corner.
"How did you know?" She looked shocked.
"Please, vampire was written all over your face. And if I knew Damon, wouldn't I have known Stefan?" I said, very annoyed. "So that brings us to the question of why you are here."
"Well, St- we all just wanted to know who you are. New girl, vampire, last time a new vampire showed up, well it didn't go too well." Caroline smiled. "We just want to be sure-"
"I get it Caroline. I'm not here to kill anyone, in fact I'm quite capable of not going crazy with blood." I replied. "Now, I cannot give you any more information about who I am or why I'm here until I talk to the two people I'm here to see." I smirked. "Well I've seen them, now I just have to talk to them." A chuckle escaped my lips. "Please leave now." I dropped my smile and looked her dead in the eyes. "I have to contact my friend." She nodded and left. As soon as the door closed I laid back down and pulled out my phone. I pulled up Elijah's contact in my phone and pressed call. I waited as it rung but I didn't get an answer so I hung up. I sighed as I moved so that my head was on the pillow. If I had to go to school tomorrow, I might as well be on time.
