I sat at the grill, sipping my sweet tea and munching on some fries. People were coming in and out of the bar, I didn't care, that was until someone decided to sit right across from me in the booth.
"Excuse you?" I asked with disbelief, I set my drink down on the table and glared at the stranger.
"Hey pretty lady," he reached for my fries but I grabbed his wrist instead.
"Hands off my food." I twisted his wrist until I heard that sweet cracking sound before letting it drop to the table.
"Geez, no wonder you're alone." He grabbed his wrist and stood up. "You're one crazy bitch." He left, tears stinging his eyes no doubt.
"And don't you forget it," I mutter to myself, continuing binging on fries. I looked behind me towards the pool tables for but a second before I heard the fabric of the booth squeak again. "Why can't people get the hint, leave me a-" I was cut off with a pair of icy blue eyes smirking back at me. "Damon, what a lovely surprise. I'm glad to see you got the cure." I smirk as his faltered.
"Don't be like that Cleo, a little birdie told me you and Klaus are on the outs again." I rolled my eyes, taking another sip of my tea before responding.
"If you're here to try and persuade me to forgive you, forget it." I watched the hope drain out of his eyes like a little kid losing his sweets. "You can't just take advantage of the fact that I and my dear husband are having a little disagreement." It was an understatement, but Damon didn't need to know that. "Besides, you made it none of your business when you locked me in a cold, musty cellar. For a week, nonetheless."
"It was for E-"
"Don't even finish that sentence." He closed his mouth as I glared at him. "Do you even hear yourself right now? You're obsessing. You're putting this girl above your family."
"She's not just 'this girl' Cleo." His eyes shadowed, becoming darker like a stormy night.
"Really, so you're going to marry her? She's with Stefan, Damon, it's not healthy to latch on like this. I should know, I did it with Klaus, and now look at me." I leaned back in the booth, crossing my arms over my stomach.
"Yeah, now you're just a-"
"Shut up," I snapped, not even letting him finish. "Leave, I'm serious. Leave me alone, leave Nik alone, leave my family alone." I questioned my logic, I was stuck alone. Not on either side of the fight. Split between two families, not really belonging to either.
He didn't try to speak again, he just got up and left. I let out a sigh as the door to the bar closed behind him, letting my eyes flutter for a moment. I threw down a twenty and left, walking back to my motel.
The streets seemed darker as I slowly made my way back to the motel. I had seemingly isolated myself. I couldn't even confide in my best friend since his brother, who just so happens to be my husband, had him sleeping in a coffin. I was ready to admit, my life is a mess, that was until I heard a horn beep from behind me. I turned around, wiping the forming tears from my eyes as I covered my them from the bright headlights.
"Angel, get in the car, please?" My heart leapt as I heard his melodic voice until I was snapped back to reality by two hands on my shoulders pushing me towards the vehicle. My head turned to see Talia urging me forward. I looked back at the car and as we passed the headlights I saw Nik's pleading eyes. It was at that moment I knew that I wouldn't be able to stay mad at him, but I was still going to put him through hell. The passenger side door was open but I walked right past it to the backseat, getting in and staying silent as the eyes fell on me.
Hey! So who watched Legacies last night? I actually really liked it. Let me know what you thought of this chapter and I'll see you next time. <3 ~Kat
