It's Settled

I agreed with Elijah, for a woman who claimed that she just wanted to reunite her family, she was being very secretive. Meetings behind closed doors, Finn standing close by to keep an eye out for prying eyes. The burning sage was proof she was trying to hide something. It was quite suspicious and I wanted to know what she was up to. Malicious intentions or otherwise, it was in my best interest to find out.

After what seemed like an eternity both Elijah and Rebekah were still talking. Although I had been trying to keep busy and ignore whatever they had been plotting. I sighed setting down the book I had begun reading, bored of being left out.

"Guys, it's simple. We know that Esther is plotting something. Whatever it may be, it's probably not in the family's best interest. I realize I'm the furthest one from the matter but I see an option. Elijah you've already said that you talked to Elena after she finished with Esther. What did she tell you?" I asked, sitting up and bringing my legs to my chest, resting my arms on top of them.

"Not very much, she said that our mother wanted to apologize for trying to have her killed." He stuck his hands in his pockets and Rebekah crossed her arms.

"With how long they seemed to be talking, and now the burning sage? I doubt that that was all they talked about, if it was even true. The simple solution is to go talk to Elena, see if you can catch her in a lie. She's really easy to read if you pick up on her tells. We can make a plan after that." I gave them a soft smile before nodding to Elijah.

"She's right Elijah, as much as I despise the girl, she's our best option for getting the information we need. She acts tough but she's the easiest to break." I nodded at Rebekah's statement. "She's also the best leverage to get the Salvatore boys to cooperate."

"Go meet with her 'Lijah, at the very least you can find out if she was lying to you." Elijah nodded before speeding out of the house. "Was it that hard to come up with a plan?" Bekah rolled her eyes and chuckled before sitting on the couch next to me.

"Despite being a great sister, you still are a bitch sometimes." I chuckled before throwing an arm around her shoulders.

"Always keeps it interesting." I let out a shallow breath before getting up. "I'm heading out."

"What? Why?" She asked, her brows furrowing.

"Well, I want to shop, and I want to go check on the boys. I'm not sure we should trust them together. Might cause too much mischief." I winked before heading towards the door. "I'll try to be back in an hour."

"Stay clear of your brothers. I don't know how they'd act once they find out Elena is with Elijah." I nodded and left heading into town.

I entered the Grill only to find the bubbly blonde talking to Nik and Kol. I shook my head as I walked up and stood next to the boys. "Caroline, how lovely it is to see you." Sarcasm laced my voice as I took a seat next to Kol.

"Cleona," she smiled, "I was just about to ask about you. You're brother's have been wondering how you are."

"Uhuh, well if they're so concerned then tell them they shouldn't push family away, or lock them away, and should try caring about how they cause more problems than they seem to solve." I smiled right back before turning to order a drink. "Better yet tell them that conspiring against me and my family isn't in their best interest." This caused her smile to falter before she fumbled for an excuse to leave.

"I should go find Bonnie," She quickly turned on her feet.

"Oh, and Caroline?" She stopped and turned to face me. "Have a nice day." A smirk formed on my lips as I turned to face the boys. "So what kind of fun have you two been up to?" I asked before turning and picking up my drink that the bartender had set in front of me.
