I sighed, taking off my heels and carefully getting out of my dress before heading into the bathroom. I took a quick shower where I removed my makeup and got the hairspray out of my hair before getting out and dressed in fluffy navy blue pjs. Climbing into the large king sized bed that I shared with Nik, I pulled the sheets up and closed my eyes, letting the events of the night flood over my mind.

Stefan was right to be worried, I didn't trust Esther as far as I could throw her. If she wanted to talk to Elena, then something was probably up. These thoughts continued to bubble, though at some point I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I remember is Nik's weight shifting the bed as he sat on the other side, taking off his dress shoes.

I turned over to face him, not wanting to let him know he'd woken me up. Nik was still oblivious as he went to change into his own pajamas. I closed my eyes as he lifted the sheets and carefully climbed in next to me.

"Goodnight, my angel," Nik whispered as he kissed the top of my head, I smiled, opening my eyes and curling into his chest. "Sorry, did I wake you?" He ran his fingers through my now tangled, damp curly hair.

"Mm, only slightly, though I'm glad you did. How was the rest of the party?" My eyes closed as I snuggled close.

"Fine, it would have been better if you were there," he kissed the top of my head. "Were you tired of the noise?"

"That and I saw Finn sneak Elena upstairs to meet with your mother." I felt his chuckle more than heard it.

"Ah, your curiosity got the best of you again. Did you find anything that made it worth your while?" I shook my head.

"It was the strangest thing, I could tell Finn was guarding the door, but couldn't hear even a mumble in that room." I pulled back just enough to look him in the eye. "Something may be up, I'm a bit worried that Esther-"

"It does seem strange that she's only focused on rebuilding this family, but I don't want you to have to worry about that." He pulled me close again. Although I didn't mind being close, I knew it was to keep me from seeing him so worried, but I didn't press it, instead accepting the warmth and letting sleep drift over me.

"Good morning love birds, it's time to get up." I heard a dreadfully loud voice and screwed my eyes shut at the blinding light coming through the window.

"Go away Kol," I threw a pillow at him. To my dismay, he caught it and whipped it back at us, hitting the somehow still sleeping Nik. Nik quickly sat up and chucked the pillow at Kol.

"Hey! She started it." I chuckled as Kol's demeanor changed.

"Who? My angel? She's not the one who came bursting in yelling to wake us up." Nik also chuckled at Kol's exaggerated pouty face.

"I'm the only one up! Rebekah's off, probably with that high school jock-"

"Matt," I interjected causing both of the boys to look at me, "what, I went to school for nearly a month, besides, it's not like Bex actually shuts up about him."

"Anyways," Kol drew attention back to him, "point is I'm bored." I rolled my eyes and threw the covers off my legs.

"Then get out, and let us get dressed." I pushed Kol out of the door and got ready to close it before he popped his head back in.

"You picked well Nik," I rolled my eyes as Kol leaned in and kissed my cheek. "Best sister-in-law ever." I chuckled before pushing him back out the door and closing it, locking it behind me. "Was that a lock?"

"Yep, let us get ready, in peace." I chuckled, climbing back into the bed and curling up into Nik's arms. "Now that Kol's impatient ass has been dealt with, good morning my love." I kissed him and pulled back smiling.
