"Nik I'm home," I yelled as I walked through the doors, it was nearing sundown and I hadn't heard from anyone in a few hours, including my brothers. There was no response as I tossed my stuff onto the couch and sat down. While it felt good to have downtime, I felt like I was missing something, and no one was here to bother me.
I had gotten used to Kol's shinanagians and found it was too quiet without him and Bex bickering. I sighed before picking up my phone and dialing Nik's number, it went straight to voicemail. I sighed as I pulled the phone away from my ear and looked at the time, fifteen minutes until nine, and I hadn't heard from anyone since five. I dialed Elijah's number hoping for him to pick up, but it sent me to voicemail too. I was about to give up but decided to try Bekah. It rang once..twice..click
"Cleo?"
"Finally," I sighed, "Where is everyone? No one is picking up their damn phone."
"Kinda busy at the moment. Can I call you back?" Bex sounded very agitated, but I got the feeling it wasn't directed at me.
"No, you can tell me what's going on." I didn't get a response, only muttering. "Now, Rebekah!" She sighed.
"Esther is trying to kill us, all of us. We're working to stop her spell, and I got stuck on babysitting duty."
"Who..Elena?" A hmph sounded causing me to smile. "Bex, where are you?"
"I'm not supposed to say, Nik and Elijah don't want you involved."
"Why not?" I asked standing from the couch.
"Your brother's are involved. They don't want to cause another-"
"Bekah, where are you?" I sighed listening on the phone.
"Stay out of it, Cleo. If we know you're safe, we can focus on the goal." She hung up before I could say anything else. I sighed and sat back down, tossing my phone to the other side of the couch before picking up the book Kol had left on the coffee table. I laid back and opened the book. Before long I had fallen asleep and let the book lay on my stomach.
(Third Pov)
Niklaus entered the mansion with his siblings. They were all silent after the night's events. Rebekah sighed as she took off her jacket and walked into the living room.
"Now what?" Kol asked, breaking the silence and following Rebekah into the living room.
"The Stefan and Damon held up their end of the bargain." Elijah said softly, glancing at Cleo who was now curled on her side, the book she had been reading had fallen closed on the floor. "We held up ours." Niklaus walked over to the couch and gently laid a blanket over Cleo.
"You know as well as I that she's not going to let this stop her from trying to kill every last one of us." Kol sat on the couch directly across from where Nik stood. "We should do something before she succeeds." He sighed and Rebekah sat next to him.
"What can we do? It's not like we know where she's at." She said, louder than she meant to which caused Cleona to stir awake.
"When did you get back?" She sat up and looked around the room at them before feeling Nik set a hand on her shoulder.
"Just a bit ago, little Dove." Elijah, who was leaning against the framed entrance to the living room. She nodded looking around the room.
"I take it, it went well? Considering you are all here." Cleo moved so her legs were curled up and she was leaning on the edge of the couch. Several silent nods occurred as she glanced around the room.
"As well as our mother failing her attempt to kill us could go." Kol's sarcasm was a welcomed comfort to Cleo.
"And my brothers? Elena?" Cleo's concern was evident as the Mikaelsons had expected.
"All alive and well, unfortunately." Cleo furrowed her eyebrows as she looked to Rebekah. "I didn't get my fun, to say the least." Cleo's mouth formed an 'oh' as she nodded.
"Your brother's fulfilled their end of the deal, as did we." Elijah gave a pointed look towards his little sister.
"What exactly happened?" She asked, throwing the blanket off her lap.
"Well one of your brothers killed a Bennett witch." Kol explained bluntly, earning a smack from Rebekah.
"Huh? A Bennett witch?"
"To stop the spell the bloodline Esther was channeling had to be broken." Elijah explained softly as he moved to sit next to Cleo.
"So they killed Bonnie's mother." Niklaus added finishing the explanation.
"They did what?!" Cleo asked in shock.
"If one of us had tried we couldn't have even gotten close. Little Dove-"
"I'm not upset, I'm just, surprised. I'm really just glad you're all alright." She looked up behind her to Nik and then over to Elijah before glancing to both Rebekah and Kol with a soft smile. "I am however, tired, and therefore going to bed." She stood and walked around the back of the couch, resting a hand on Nik's shoulder. "Goodnight everyone." She continued her way up the stairs.
That is going to be all for today, I want to leave the next few heavy chapters for a day when I have something positive to post directly afterwards. So just as I said before, I hope all of you are doing alright, and I can't wait to see what y'all think of these few chapters. Love always, Kat <3
