~Scarlet's POV~
Today is the day.
Crescent and I are going off to college, in a completely different setting. We're going from a small village in Utah, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Back home was the same old, same old. Farm fields upon farm fields. And nobody knew or cared about the media. We just paid attention to the local news and all that jazz.
Cress and I aren't sisters. Well we might as well be. She is an only child, she almost died when she was ten from a weird disease but she made it. After that she was heavy-set because the disease made her gain some weight, making her reach 217 lbs.
Then she started to get bullied for her weight. She started working out and changing things about herself. Getting her grades up higher and being more confident. I'm so proud of how she has fought throughout her life!
Then there's me.
Basically, my mom has a rare blood disease that causes her to be immobile. So dad was constantly working, never home and my brother was killed in a freak accident. It's pretty hard to pay for college but I manage somehow.
We have always stuck together. It's just one of those things where you have no one so you want to feel, I don't know, wanted. Cress and I are sharing an apartment close to our college, since we both couldn't manage to pay for a separate place all by ourselves. We got settled into our apartment a couple days ago, and now are doing some finishing touches before we head to our classes.
"Where do you want this?" Crescent grunted, carrying my box around. I pointed over to my dresser, and continued to put pictures up on my wall.
"It's not that heavy," I waved my hand.
"Scar! It's all just books in here." She scoffed. I started laughing at her expression as she reaches through my collection of books. Okay, I'm a bit bookworm. I am ate up obsessed with reading. I always have been. "You have more books than you have shoes and clothes combined!" She exclaimed.
"Let's be honest, you have the same amount of shoes and CD's that I have books." I stated. She began shuffling through her box of various music artists.
If it isn't obvious, Crescent is majoring in Musical Arts and I'm majoring in Pre-Med. I want to be a Registered Nurse. While Cress wants to be bigger than life itself.
She could definitely do it. She has light brown hair that hangs just below her shoulders, hazel eyes, short, a tan complexion, and fit.
We don't have the nicest clothes in the world but we look presentable to the public eye.
I have jet black hair that's right below my chest, light brown eyes, pale complexion, average height and curvy. I hate being curvy. No clothes fit me correctly. They are always too big at the waist and too tight on my thighs and butt.
"We are going to be late! C'mon Scar" Cress ran around like a madman, attempting to fix her makeup and comb through her hair. Me on the other hand, could walk out looking like the grim reaper and not care one bit. I slid on a loose black t-shirt and we were on our way.
We walked straight into the auditorium where everyone was gathered, waiting to get their dorm room keys, and class schedules. It was completely chaotic to say the least.
Everyone was running around, finding their roommates and friends, laughing excitedly. You could already see cliques forming.
"I thought we left the cliques back in high school," I muttered. Crescent flinched back, seeing all of the girls giggling in the most hateful way. Yes, she was bullied. She is used to them laughing but it still effects her.
