*~ Crescent's POV ~*
I woke up alone. I heard the shower running from across the hall. The pang of guilt hit and remained in the pit of my stomach. I should have given Scarlet a reading yesterday at the funeral, like I was supposed to. It's what Arden wanted. But I don't know how... I'm so scared.
I've been having odd dreams lately. It's a different person every night. All of them wanting to get a message to their loved ones. I kind of wish they would stop.I need to tell Scar.. But what if she thinks I'm crazy?
"Babe?" A voice rang softly in the room.
"Hmm?" I answered, still in a trance. I felt Arden's presence and a shiver was sent down my spine.
"Are you okay? You've seemed a bit.. Off these past few days.." He said quietly, climbing under the covers with me.
"I'm okay." I nodded. He looked at me with doubt. Of course he can see right through my lies. We're so close but he seems miles away from me. "I saw your grandma." I said, back in my trance. It's like being in a little bubble.
"Cress.. My grandma passed a way a few years ago." He said weakly.
"She's here now." I murmured.
"Crescent. Are you okay? Didn't you hear me? She's dead." He choked out.
"She wanted to tell you how proud she is of you for what you've done. She also wanted to thank you for the gift you gave her at her funeral. She said it was a beautiful way to honor her." I said softly.
"How could you-" he started but I cut him off.
"Did you sing at her funeral? A song you wrote?" I asked, nonchalantly.
"Yes.. I did.. How-" he started but was cut off once again.
"She wanted to tell you that you're growing into an amazing person. She said to keep chasing your dreams, even if they seem too big." I smiled.
"Crescent.." He whispered, a look of shock spreading over his face.
"Yes Calum. I'm a medium." I sighed hastily.
"So Arden?" He whispered, looking at me as if I had grown another head.
"Yes. I've talked to Arden." I muttered.
"Does Scarlet know?" He asked, biting his lip and still looking at me oddly. The look he was giving me made me want to curl up and disappear into nothingness.
"No. I don't know how to bring it up to her. You're the only one who knows about this and I'm so scared. That's the first reading I've been able to manage." I whispered, tears threatening to poor out. He wrapped his arms around me and his hands joined at the dimples on the bottom of my back. He put his lips to my forehead and I felt his lips quiver.
Crying? Scared? I don't know. I put my hands up to his chest and ran my fingers along his collarbone.
"It's going to be okay, Cress." He said softly.
"I'm terrified." I cried as quietly as possible.
"Shhh." He whispered, rubbing my back. I hadn't noticed it until now but the bottom of my back has been extremely sore. My period is coming up I guess.. I'm a couple weeks late though.. Stress causes that. That's probably it. There was a soft knock on the door and I turned over to see Scarlet standing in the doorway.
"Breakfast is ready." She spoke quietly. She hesitated like she wanted to say something, but decided against it and turned on her heel.
I let Calum pick me up like a child and carry me to the kitchen. He sat me down on a chair and took the one right beside me. He looked right into my eyes and promised me that everything was going to be okay. For once, I believed him.
