She had a boyfriend.

She couldn't tell anyone but Liana Carmen Vargas had a boyfriend and he was a grown man and handsome and successful and not to mention gorgeous.

Liana hated to think of Antonio in such basic terms but considering how their situation had begun, she was amazed she'd even got to this point with him,

She was lounging in the games room one afternoon while Antonio was catching up with some work in his office when her mother called,

"Mama, how are you?"

"I've been better sweetheart,"

"What's wrong?"

Leia Vargas sighed,

"Not much in the grand scheme of things but your father and I are going through a lot with this new merger and your brother."

"What's Leandro done now?" Liana said with a smile as she rolled her eyes. "Daddy said the same thing a few weeks ago."

"He's gone and disappeared on us,"

"Disappeared?"

"We haven't heard from him in a few weeks and we're really getting worried. He was meant to come home to complete the terms of this merger. Your father is speaking with the lawyer right now."

Liana's mind buzzed, it would be too much of a coincidence if her father were on the phone with Antonio; wouldn't it...?

"Is there anything I can do?"

"You're sweet darling but no, there's nothing you can do this time. Unless you can get your brother to come home."

Liana smiled to herself,

"I'll try and speak to him."

"Thank you, are you okay? Where exactly are you? I never know which dial tone I'm going to get these days!" Leia chuckled,

"I'm in Italy now...with friends. I have a while before I go back to school to actually study so I'm just relaxing."

"That's nice, well make sure you come home before you go back to the States, your father and I miss you all so much."

"I miss you too mama," she spent the rest of the conversation just catching up with her mother until Leia said that her father was done with his call and that she would speak to her soon.

As soon as Leia hung up the phone she immediately sent a text to her brother asking if he was okay when Antonio walked into the room and Liana looked over at him,

"Were you just talking to my father?"

Antonio nodded as he took the seat beside her and she put her mobile down to climb into his lap.

"Yes actually, how did you know?"

"I was just talking to my mother and she said Daddy was on the phone talking to the lawyer handling his latest merger."

"I see,"

"Yeah...," they both went silent for the moment, lost in their own thoughts of what this could mean for them but Liana was the only one brave enough to say it.

"Will I have to tell him soon?"

"Tell him what?" Antonio said quietly making Liana lift her head up to look at him.

Oh no, not this again!

"You know what, that I have a boyfriend and he works for him."

"Liana," Antonio whined,

"Don't Liana me, what are we going to do?"

"You didn't think about that when you wanted to be exclusive did you? I told you this would be a complication and you said it wouldn't matter."

"It didn't when we were just fucking but now it's more than that!"

Antonio didn't respond, and Liana felt her heart crumble inside her chest,

"It is more to you...isn't it?"

Antonio didn't say anything for a long time, too long making Liana get up off the couch completely.

"I don't believe this,"

"Liana,"

"No Antonio, either this is more than just sex to you or it isn't. Its not that hard a question!"

Liana looked down at him still sitting comfortably on the couch in a blue tshirt and khaki shorts and barefoot. He looked so casually gorgeous it started to make her angry.

"We agreed to keep things casual,"

"That changed when you asked me to be your girlfriend."

"I did no such thing, I said we were exclusive." Liana narrowed her eyes at him,

"What does that mean to you exactly?"

"That neither of us will sleep with anyone else. I'm a grown man, I don't interest myself in titles. If I say I'm exclusive to you, it means only you will be sharing my bed."

"You bastard,"

"Excuse me?"

Liana looked at him in disbelief and rage. He was really trying to use his age as a reason that he was plucking at straws,

"You heard me. You knew exactly what I thought you meant and you let me think it anyway."

Antonio said nothing,

"I hate you," she said softly before turning away from him and marching out the door.

"Liana wait!" Liana continued her exit and made her way upstairs as Antonio ran after her. He caught her in the hallway but she shrugged him off,

"Don't touch me, I'm going home."

"Home, what are you talking about?"

"I think I made myself expressively clear." She said looking him up and down. "I might be young and naïve in your eyes but I am not a fool and I wont stand for this pathetic excuse of a situation anymore."

"Youre being ridiculous,"

"Maybe but it doesn't make this is any less of a shit situation. I'm done."

With that, she marched away from him and into his room to pack her things.
