"Olivia," Olivia turned to him at the dinner table one evening and with a strength he couldn't believe he didn't have.

"I need to ask you something."

"Yes?"

Here goes nothing.

"I'd like a divorce."

Olivia was quiet for a very long time, looking directly at him before turning away and politely saying,

"No."

"No?" she turned her eyes to him again and coldly repeated,

"No."

"What the hell do you mean no?"

"Was I in any way unclear. You asked me for a divorce and I have declined. End of discussion."

Antonio couldn't believe this,

"No, not end of discussion. Why would you deny me this? Its what you said you wanted for years. I asked you out of courtesy!"

"Well I've changed my mind!" Olivia snapped at him.

Antonio looked over at the woman he had married and couldn't even recognise her. Even through all the years of fighting and heartache and loneliness; he had never really hated Olivia until this very moment.

"You conniving selfish little bitch." He hissed at her. "You cant just play with my life like this! I want a divorce Olivia!"

"Well I wont give you one, not without a fight!"

"Fight?"

"Yes, I wont just give you up so easily so you can run off with your fancy little girlfriend!" Olivia sneered the word girlfriend and Antonio saw what was really going on here.

"You're jealous," Olivia scoffed but Antonio saw the truth in her eyes. "You're jealous of my relationship so now you're being spiteful."

She didn't say anything,

"I've giving you everything for eleven years Olivia and this is how you repay me. I've not asked you for anything for myself and this is how you act?" he was bellowing now but he didn't care who heard them.

"I don't care what you say, I wont let you leave so easily!"

"You think this was easy? You think any of my life since your accident has been easy!" Olivia once again said nothing.

"I fought for years to stay faithful to you because of some clearly misguided sense of loyalty for you to throw it back in my face when I truly want to be happy!"

"What about my happiness Antonio? I want to have this baby more than anything and here you come trying to take that away from me!"

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"You think a court will leave a child in my care without you. You think even if they did that that child wouldn't grow up to resent its crippled mother!"

"You're being ridiculous,"

"Am I!" Olivia screamed at him as tears began to fall, soaking her creamy smooth face.

"I know how it will be, how people will treat me without you! I'll be all alone and I wont let you do that to me, hate me all you want."

"I have never truly hated you until this very moment."

"I bet," she scoffed again but he just laughed at her.

"I'm serious. I have never hated you until right now and not even for the reasons you might think."
