Chapter 2: Itachi's Change

You were afraid it would have been really awkward between you and Itachi since that night, but things went normally, as if nothing happened. You two could be seen talking to each other more, and you actually were starting to enjoy his company. Then, it happened; he finally asked you to go eat dinner with him. Naturally, you were completely surprised, and blushing like crazy, but you accepted his offer and that night, you two went out.

You both were walking next to each other, not holding hands or anything, but you were walking pretty close. Sometimes your hands brushed against each other, but it was an accident and so you just ignored it. You and Itachi went to a fairly nice resturant, and while you ate Itachi watched you alot. You were getting a little uncomfortable from the staring, but continued to eat without saying a word. You both talked for a bit, and you actually got him to laugh! A true, honest to god laugh. It made you smile widely when you heard that. You seemed to have forgot about that night when he leaned in on you.

You left the resturant and just walked around quietly.

"Come on...I know a great spot to look at at night," said Itachi, turning and heading to the forest. You blinked and followed him. You noticed that it seemed like the walk was getting steeper and you were heading up hill. You were slightly out of breath from the walk, and it was a good thing to because the view you were about to see would have left you breathless anyway. You gazed in awe at the sight before your eyes; the lights from the village were all on, and up ahead the bright moon stood out along with the stars. You eyes sparkled with delight as you stared up, your gleaming smile matching that of the stars. You turned to Itachi and saw he was smiling softly too.

"It's beautiful Itachi!" you exclaim, looking back at the scene.

"______, I have to ask you something..." said Itachi and he stepped closer to you. You looked at him, worried that he might try something again, but you saw his sharingan weren't activated, so you relaxed.

"Sure Itachi, what is it?"

"...would you still care about me no matter what I did?" he asked softly, keeping about 2 feet away from you. You were a little surprised about the question.

"Um...I...uh..."

"You don't have to answer now, you can answer later. I just want to know," he said, looking at the view instead of you. You looked at him through the corner of your eyes, blushing slightly from his question.

"We should get heading back," said Itachi and he turned around, leading you back home. As you walked near your stairs, you looked up at your door then looked at him and smiled,

"Thanks, I had a great time."

He nodded and walked up to you, and hugged you. You blinked with your chin on his shoulder. You've never seen him give that kind of affection before, but heck, you weren't complaining. You hugged him back, then you both parted your ways.

After that night you two sometimes could be found flirting a little bit. You would be giggling and playfully pushing him, sometimes your hand would be ontop of his. He would tease you, sometimes push your hair out of your face, and get really defensive if any guy tried to come and talk to you. You thought it was cute, but a little strange because you guys weren't even going out.

But, after a few months, you had noticed something...Itachi's words and actions were becoming...strange. He was constantly talking about his capability. He was getting more and more distant by the 6th month, and he was getting more and more busy with ANBU. You tried to not let that bother you, although sometimes you let it show.

One day while you were sitting in your apartment reading, there was a knock at the door. You blinked and walked over to it. You opened it and found Itachi standing in front of you. You smiled,
