Chapter 12: Glimpse of the Future; Guilt

It was going to take about 2 days to get back to Konoha from your location. You were getting really bored with just walking quietly with Itachi and Kisame. They both barely ever spoke which constantly made your mind just start daydreaming, but every time you did your thoughts just went to your memories of you and Itachi. Every time it did it made your chest start to sting, making you wince and clutch at your chest. Your eyes opened wide every time you the pain shot through. It wasn't a normal pain...but what could it possibly be?

"There's a small town up ahead...we'll stay there for the night," said Itachi, pointing to the direction where the town was. You looked up through your akatsuki hat and saw where he was pointing to. You could see a couple of buildings through the trees. You all turned and headed slowly towards the small town silently. It took about a 15 minute walk to finally reach the entrance of the winding hill up to the village. The town was about average size: not too small and not too big. There were people all over the main street, making it seem a little crowded.

You noticed the moment you, Itachi, and Kisame stepped into the street you were getting weird stares. Of course you couldn't blame the people, after all, you would be staring too if you saw 3 people wearing the exact same outfit walk into your village.

'I should really buy a new outfit, just to wear when we are in crowded places like this...' you thought to yourself as you glanced at the peoples' strange looks. Itachi and Kisame both stopped at a more empty part of the street and turned to each other to talk.

"I'll go look for a place for us to stay at," said Kisame to Itachi. Itachi merely nodded and Kisame walked away to go find a place to stay. You looked up at Itachi and noticed he was looking at you. You just shrugged and started walking towards the stands. You looked around and immedietly felt your teenaged girly instincts for shopping kick in. You could tell Itachi was getting annoyed as he followed you back and forth through the stands as you examined everything that caught your eye.

You were walking passed a few clothes stands when all of a sudden you stopped in mid-step. You turned slowly to see some of the best clothes you have ever seen. You felt the urge to try everything on kick in as you rushed over to the stand, your eyes shining. You quickly grabbed everything that you wanted to try on. You quickly ran to the dressing rooms, closing the curtain behind you, trying everything on. There was a vertical mirror inside it so you could examin yourself.

You peeked out of the curtain and saw Itachi standing a few feet away, looking slightly irritated. You couldn't help but giggle lightly. You turned back to look at your reflection. You looked down at a sack that you had on with your other clothes. You had some money from when you were still in Kohana, so maybe you had enough to get the outfit you wanted. You pulled out your money and counted it, a huge grin appearing on your face. You had enough, even with a few left over. You clutched your money in your hand, quickly underdressed and put your akatsuki uniform back on. You knew it would be a good idea just to get new clothes so you could dress differently around villages, so it looked less suspicious. You walked out of the dressing room, passed Itachi, and up to the merchant. You paid for your clothes and while the merchant was putting it in a bag for you, you felt Itachi behind you.

You just rolled your eyes and once you did, something popped out at you. You blinked and looked towards it, your eyes gleaming as much as it did. It was a necklace (a choker to be exact). It had black material for the necklace part, and then a gorgeously done symbol of fire. It's red ruby gleamed in the little sunlight that hit it. Your eyes sparkled as your fingers slowly traced it.

"It's beautiful..." you whispered as you traced around the symbol slowly. Suddenly you were snapped out of thought when the merchant said,

"Here you go, miss."
