You woke up with a start, your heart pounding and your face feeling hot. You put a hand to your forehead and you felt sweat starting to build up on your brow. Your stomach felt like butterflies were brushing against it, making you tickle and feel nervous. Was last night real? Or was it just another dream? You looked to your right and saw Itachi leaning against the tree. He was asleep, or at least you thought he was. You looked a little farther and saw Kisame's back as he slept as well.
You looked at the ground and wrapped your arms around your legs, resting your chin on your knees.
'Did we really kiss last night? It feels so faint and distant that it doesn't even seem real...I wonder if it was a dream,' you thought to yourself, turning in your eyebrows in thought as you concentrated on the ground.
"______," said a voice next to you. You blinked and looked to see that Itachi was awake now. You couldn't tell what he was thinking, but he seemed to have a stern look on his face.
"Oh...I see you're awake-"
"Let's go for a walk," said Itachi abruptly, making you raise an eyebrow at him as he stood up, buttoning his Akatsuki cloak on him. You stood up as well and you both headed out into the trees. After a while of walking silently, Itachi suddenly stopped dead in his tracks, making you have to stop quickly as well. He turned to you, and you were a little shock to see what looked like anger in his eyes.
"______, do not let what happened last night interfer with the Akatsuki mission," said Itachi firmly, making you raise an eyebrow.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" you asked, folding your arms over your chest. In a flash Itachi was close to you again like last night, except this time he was towering over your threateningly. You looked up at him, staring into his crimson eyes.
"Don't get in my way," said Itachi. Your eyes opened wide slightly at this. What was his problem? It was just an innocent kiss and he was acting like you had done something horrible.
"Geez, what's your problem," you said, backing away so he couldn't tower over you anymore,"You're the one who made the move, not me."
Wrong thing to say.
Itachi's glare at you was deathly. It made you want to shiver, but you held it back in front of him. You just glared back at him. You both had a glaring contest for a few minutes before he suddenly turned on his heel, leaving quietly and swiftly. You looked after him, huffing slightly and then sighing. Just when you thought things would get good between you two again and he went and had to act like this!
'He's so strange...first he kisses me and now he's telling me to basically stay away from him,' you thought in your head.
'He's concerned he'll get too close to you,' said a voice in your head.
'But why?' you thought again.
'He doesn't rely on his emotions like normal people. He believes you will blind him from his task at hand, and of course, he can't let that happen,' said the voice again. You quickly shook your head, trying to ignore that little voice in your head. Although, from what your concious said, that did seem to make sense. You sighed heavily and walked back to camp.
You sat in front of the pond where you had just bathed. You were looking down at your reflection as you were fixing up your hair. You didn't care how much the other two complained, you were going to look at least decent even if they were the only ones to see you! You put your Akatsuki clothes on while your cloak was folded next to you as you put on your shirt. You reached for the cloak when you noticed one side of it felt heavier. You blinked and reached inside a pocket on the inside of it and pulled out the fire necklace.
