Chapter 10: You Could Be of Use; Your Team

You squinted your nose in distaste as you stared around the dark and gloomy cave. It was very dark and depressing. You stepped forward a little, Deidara and Tobi behind you. You looked at the high ceiling, feeling dizzy from looking up at its height. You shook your head and looked directly in front of you. You stared in awe at the two huge hand statues came out of the ground. It was if the devil's hands themselves were coming out of the ground and trying to grasp the earth. Deidara noticed where you were staring out and stepped next to you, also examining the statues.

"That's where we have our meetings, yeah," said Deidara, still looking up at the statue. You turned to look at him questionably and then looked back at it. You saw him lift a hand and point to the right hand, near the far thumb.

"That used to be Sasori's position, but he was killed. Now that's Tobi's spot, yeah," said Deidara, moving his finger to point at the next spot, "After that it goes Hidan, Kakuzu, Kisame, and then Orochimaru's spot when he was here," said Deidara, his voice sounding a little displeased at the mention of Orochimaru's name. You looked at him in shock and said,

"Orochimaru was part of the Akatsuki?" Deidara merely nodded before pointing to the next hand, starting from the pinky.

"That's Zetsu's spot, then Itachi's, and the spot next to his is the leader's partner's spot, yeah. Not much is known about her since she mostly keeps to herself. After that is my spot, and then the leader's is on the thumb, yeah," Deidara finished, letting his hand drop back to his side again. You stared up at the statues before turning to Deidara.

"How do you know where everyone goes?" you asked, putting your hands on your hips. Deidara smiled and lifted up his hand, showing a ring on his index finger.

"From these rings. They help us communicate to one another, so we can still have our meetings even when we are far away, yeah."

You looked at his ring carefully, raising eyebrow while having a rather impressed look on your face. Deidara then walked past you, making you turn on your heel and follow him. You just now noticed a small hallway to the right, away from the hands. You walked silently as the hallway opened up to show a kitchen to the right and a staircase to the left. You blinked and looked at the kitchen. It looked like any ordinary kitchen would look like, except for having cave walls and the appliances being all black. You then turned your attention to the staircase. You tried to look up it, but it was too dark to see.

"That's where any of the members who are staying here sleep," said Deidara from behind you, clearly noticing where you were looking. You jumped slightly and turned around to face him. You saw him heading in the kitchen to go get something to eat. You followed him and hoisted yourself up to sit on the counter. You looked around as Deidara sat down at a table in the middle of the kitchen with rice balls on a plate in front of him. He looked at you curiously before taking a bite out of one of the rice balls.

"So, what's the deal with you and Itachi, yeah?" he asked, his mouth slightly full of his food. You blinked and looked at him, wondering what the heck he was talking about.

"I don't know what you are talking about," you said, still looking at him. Deidara swallowed and stared right back at you, a slight smirk on his face.

"Oh come on, there had to be a reason he took you from Kohana in the first place, yeah. He didn't even got orders from Leader to get you, so there must have been something else, yeah," said Deidara, raising an eyebrow at you. You merely shrugged before saying,

"I really don't know. He just appeared one day, attacked his brother, Kisame knocked me out and poof! Here I am!" you said in fake astonishment, throwing your arms up in the air, "He did say I had some use to them or something...I dunno..." you finished, folding your arms over your chest. Deidara stared at you for a moment, shrugged and took another bite out of the rice ball. Both of you were silent for a moment when a voice suddenly broke the silence.
