You walked silently behind Itachi and Kisame, staring down at the ground. Itachi hadn't said anything about what happened with Orochimaru and how he had saved you. He acted like nothing had even happened. He would still look at you with that same emotionless look or glare at you occasionally. It irritated you that he was acting like that. When Itachi brought you back to his and Kisame's campsite, Kisame stared at you in disbelief then looked at Itachi questionally, but Itachi just gave him the "I don't want to talk about it" look.

You glanced up to stare at Itachi's back. As if he wasn't hard to read a few years ago, now it just seemed impossible. You sighed, folding your arms over your chest and looking back down at the ground. Once again, your mind went back in time.

You wanted to hide your smile as much as possible, but the news you had just recieved was too exciting to hide. You had a piece of paper in your hand as you walked towards Itachi and Sasuke's home. Your eyes scanned it over and over again, making you want to scream in delight. You wanted to start running, but you wanted to keep it a surprise. You put your hands to your sides as you got closer to their home. You were about to turn the corner to go find Itachi but you didn't have to. He was heading out, a distant look on his face.

Your grin widened as he stepped close, clutching your letter to your chest. But your smile started to disappear when he walked past you as if you weren't even there.

"Uh...Itachi?" you said to his back as he walked past you. He stopped and stood there for a few seconds before turning his head to look at you through the corner of his eye. He had such a lost look in his eyes that it startled you.

"What?" he said, slightly harsh, making you raise an eyebrow.

"Well...uh...I was wondering if you would come to lunch with me! I have something really exciting to tell you!" you said, your smile once again returning to your face. He stared at you for a moment before looking away.

"I'm sorry, I don't have time to spend with you," he said as he walked away. You stared at him as he left, hurt shining in your (color) eyes. Your hands dropped to your side, the text on the letter sticking out in bold. It read "ANBU acceptence letter".

~*~*~*~*~*End Flash Back*~*~*~*~*~

You got angry at yourself as you felt the hurt from that day come back into your heart. You couldn't get upset right now over something that happened so long ago. You caught yourself glaring at Itachi's back and quickly tore your eyes away from him, your fists clenched tightly.

'He was acting so weird those last few months...he was distant, cold, and he was even ignoring a lot of missions...' you thought to yourself. But you quickly shook your head to get Itachi out of your mind, but it was as if he was etched in your brain now, and he wouldn't leave.

Later on that day, you three stopped in a clearing for the night. You went to sit farther away from them, like you always did. They had started a fire, leaving you out in the cold. You didn't care though, you wanted to be away from them. You laid down in the grass, your arms behind your head as you gazed up at the sky, the darkness of night almost completely surronding the light from the sun.

The stars twinkled and shined at you, some of them reflecting off your eyes. Your mind finally turned away from Itachi to Sasuke. You wondered if he was ok, and why he wasn't the one who saved you. Then that brought you to another question.

'Why did Orochimaru say that I was no use to him anymore?' you thought in your head, your eye brows going down in hard thought. Your questions was interrupted by the sound of soft footsteps in the grass. You propped yourself up on your elbows to see Itachi standing next to you, his cloak covered most of him, but you could still see his crimson red eyes looking down at you.
