Chapter 22: No good deed goes Unpunished; Ties to your village, broken

There was a nerve racking silence as you and Sasuke stood for battle. Both of your eyes burned with passion to fight. You glared at the boy you had taken care of for so many years. You didn't care how much you still cared for him, you were not going to go easy. Clearly he was heading somewhere before you stopped him, but where? While you stared at Sasuke, something seemed to pop into your head as you looked at him.

'Every time I try to do something good...it always turns out bad...even Sasuke,' you thought in your head, squinting at Sasuke.

Sasuke suddenly lunged forward, pulling out a kunai and quickly slicing it towards your neck. You moved your head to the side, the sharp blade of the kunai cutting part of your hair. Sasuke had left himself wide open with his attack, so you quickly sent a hard side-kick into his side. He blocked it with one hand, but it still had enough force to push him back.

He slid back a few feet, glaring at you with the kunai in his mouth. He pulled out shuriken and threw it at you while you dodged expertly. Right when the second shuriken went passed, you noticed a shine of wire going with it. Your eyes opened wide when you saw that the kunai in his mouth had wire wrapped around it.

"Wind mill, triple attack," you hissed to yourself. Sasuke put his hands over the wire and a suddenly fire followed the wire towards you.

That's my new creed

POOF! The smoke from a shadow clone was hit by the fire. Sasuke dropped the kunai and wire and looked around for you. You stood behind him with your back to him, holding a kunai up. You didn't want to kill him, at least, you hoped not to. You spun around, sending the kunai near his neck.

It grazed the skin on his neck, leaving a trickle of blood run down before he quickly got away. His glare was harsh at you as he ran at you. You quickly did an ANBU move and practically walked over him. You spun in the air and sent a hook kick into his cheek, sending him flying. You jumped high into the sky, about to send a drop kick down on him when you saw him jumping up at you.

You tried to get out of the way, but he went ramming into you. You felt sharp pain in your gut. You looked down and saw he had stuck a kunai in you.

Naruto...

Itachi...

Sasuke...

You pushed him off you and landed slightly wobbly. You held your side and felt your warm blood running down your fingers. You hissed in pain, but you were far from over.

One question haunts and hurts

You took your hand off your wound, feeling more blood come gushing out slowly as you ran at Sasuke. Your speed was so fast that he could barely see you, but he had his sharingan out now, so he caught you in the nick of time. Good thing for him too, because you gathered chakra into your hand and sent it into his stomach. The power of your chakra sent him flying off the rocky hill and falling hard into the ground below. You jumped down, landing cat-like near his lying body.
