Chapter 19: Kiss on the Cheek; The Fire Necklace

Your heart was thumping in your throat as Itachi seemed to pause with his lips only a few centimeters apart. Why was Itachi being like this? It didn't make any sense. But god you had this burning desire that you hadn't had in a long time. You wanted to feel Itachi's lips against yours more than anything. You just wanted to move your head to those few centimeters were gone. Your lips were slightly parted and you could feel his breath on your lips. Your eyes were half closed in a dreamy and dazed like state.

Suddenly, there was a soft chuckle and you felt more of Itachi's breath as he said,

"Good," and he pulled away. Your eyes opened wide as you stared at him in complete disbelief. He looked down at you, his sharingan back on. He had a smirk on his face and he turned around and left quickly, leaving you in a state of shock.

You just stood there, staring at the spot where Itachi had been. Suddenly, confusion and anger rose up as you shouted,

"WHAT THE HELL?!"

Itachi walked back to the camp swiftly and quietly. That was close, too close. He couldn't believe he had almost lost his self control again. Just like that day in the rain. But he caught himself quickly and managed to pull away. He couldn't let any feelings show through. It would bring too much trouble and make him lose sight of his goal.

Suddenly, he remebered something. He stopped where he was and reached into the sack tide at his waist. He reached in it and pulled something out. The item gleamed slightly, even in the dark. He stared down at it in thought, not sure if he was going to do what he was planning to do yet or not. He sighed very softly, put it back into his sack and then continued walking. He could hear your footsteps not to far away so he knew you were following.

Kisame and Tobi were back, both sitting around the very small fire since you hadn't brought back the fire wood yet. Deidara was sitting next to Tobi and they were all silent. They turned their heads when they heard footsteps and saw Itachi come out of the trees. Deidara glared at Itachi, Tobi waved and Kisame nodded. Itachi didn't even seem to notice them. He just walked right passed them and sat next to a tree in the shadows. Clearly he did not want to talk.

They just shrugged and looked back at the fire when suddenly it went huge. They covered their eyes protectively and looked up to see that you had dropped a ton of wood into it. You had a very irritated look on your face as you stared down into the dancing flames. Deidara raised an eyebrow at you and wondered what had happened between you and Itachi. It must have been bad if you looked angry.

You walked passed them and sat next to a tree that was a little more farther away from Itachi. Your put your Akatsuki cloak over your shoulders and closed your eyes, leaning your head against the bark of the tree. The three Akatsuki members stared at you in wonder, then looked back at Itachi with the same look.

"Wonder what happened, un," whispered Deidara to the other two. They shrugged and went back to their silence for the rest of the night.

All of you had your Akatsuki hats on, so the bell ringing was getting to your ears badly. You refused to stand next to Itachi since you had woken up. You didn't even know why you had been this mad. Maybe it was because you felt like he played you to get information out of you. And yet something in the back of your mind said it was because he didn't kiss you when you wanted him too. You ignored the voice and looked at Deidara. You, Kisame, and Itachi were standing in front of Deidara and Tobi.

"We are going to go have to find the one-tailed demon," said Deidara, looking at all three of you, "So we're going to have to all go different ways now." That made you kind of sad. You liked Deidara's company. Itachi stood perfectly still and Kisame nodded. Tobi all of sudden walked up to you, threw his arms around you and hugged you with all his might. He practically lifted you off the ground in the bear hug.
