Chapter 21: Bending Fire; You're Weak

There was stillness all around a large field. There was no sound, not even the gentle whistle of a slight breeze. There were no stars out, just a black canvas of the night sky. It was very dark out since in the moon was being blocked by some clouds. You stood in the middle of this wide field, standing rigid in your spot with your eyes closed. If anyone saw you, they would probably think you were dead if it wasn't for the fact that you were standing and your chest was moving from your breathing.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, you moved. Your hand slowly went up, cupping itself near your chest. Then, your other hand came up. The fire necklace that Itachi had given to you was cluthced between your fingers. You opened your eyes slowly to look down at the necklace but clipping it around your neck. The moment it was on, you looked down into your cupped palm to see a flame in the center. It flickered and danced, but it did not hurt your skin.

You focused on your chakra and watched as the flame seemed to gain life. It grew bigger, stronger, and brighter.

"The necklace feeds off from my chakra," you said softly to yourself. You closed your hand around the flame and it died quickly. You looked down at your hand that was in a fist and got an idea.

You slowly stepped back into a fighting stance, staring out into the far distance ahead of you. You chambered (ready position) for a punch, making sure to focus on your chakra. You felt your muscls react quickly when you stepped forward and punched hard.

A fireball bigger than your head came shooting out of your knuckles. It went flying off into the distance, disappearing in the darkness. You stared where it had gone before getting another idea. You quickly spun around, picking up your leg as you went. You side-kicked hard in the same direction as the first fireball. Another fireball came out of your foot, shooting off into the distance as well.

You slowly sat your foot down, your fingers tracing at your necklace. Strangely, the necklace felt hot. You just stood there for a while, thinking hard. Finally, after some time, a smirk came upon your face and your (color) eyes glittered in the darkness.

"Urgh, this is so boring! I hate it when they have their 'meetings'," you grummbled to yourself as you sat on a stump. You looked ahead of you at Itachi and Kisame. They were sitting close together, back to back. They were cross-legged, their hands up as they focused their chakra. They were doing this so their rainboy figured selves could appear on the hands at the Akatsuki headquaters. They were having one of their 'meetings'.

You couldn't do this because 1) you were just a spy and 2) you didn't have a ring. You sighed and rested your chin in the palm of your hand. You had wanted to go out and practice your 'fire bending' as you called it, but Itachi told you to stay put. You still hadn't told Itachi and Kisame about the necklace's powers, but frankly you didn't want to. It was none of their business!

You were so lost in your thoughts that you didn't realize you were staring at Itachi. His eyes were closed and his face was full of concentration. You blinked as you continued to stare at him. Something in his face reminded you of something.

Like the first time you met him...

The little 7 year old you walked slowly through the 'play-ground' area of the Acadamy. You had just came here from moving. You were in a new part of the leaf village, but it still meant all new people and new situations. You sighed, your big (color) eyes looking half lit with dullness as you continued to walk around. People didn't seem to want to really talk to you here, and you couldn't really understand why.

You turned the corner when someone caught your eye. You blinked and turned to see a young boy sitting underneath a large tree. He was sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed. His face was full of concentration.
