Consciousness
Was starting to come back
As I blinked myself awake
To the world around me
I blinked away the blurriness
Everything
Until I could move my head
To look in front of me
A figure sat beside me
At first
It scared me
Like most things
So I shot up into a seated position
My breathing rigid
As I tried to calm down
My headphones slipped down to my neck
And my phone into the little slit in the couch
That would be fun to get out
But
I calmed down
When I realize it's only Colby
Sitting there
His arms on his knees
Rubbing his hands together
And looking down
I don't say a word
And at first
Neither does he
But
We can't stay silent forever
"Why'd you come over?" Colby asked
There was no emotion in his voice
It was plain
Nothingness
I didn't reply
I didn't say anything
So he continued to talk
"Why?" He asked again
But
It seemed like he wasn't finished
"Why..." He started but didn't finish
He rubbed his hands together faster
Harder
"Why'd you lie?" He whispered
He bit his lip
And shook his head
Looking away for a second
As he straightened himself
And squeezed the bridge of his nose
Looking away again
But didn't look back
Still shaking his head
He looked back down
Back to the same position
I was frozen
I had broken him
Broken him down hard
It was all my fault
No matter what I said
It would never change this moment
Never
